Default V6.0 ecu with A123

I've got a p-80se with v6.0 ecu. I had the A123 mod done to it when I purchased it. What battery setting do you run in the ecu? I don't see an option for A123 or life. I've been running lipo but now switching over to a 9.9v life pack. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

I've got the same set up in my Bandit Arf. You are good to go leaving it on LIPO with the 9.9 A123's.

Happy Landings,

Bill

Hey Boomer. Thanks for asking this. I just took in a Ver. 6 with A123 wrote on the bottom and was wondering the same thing myself. Glad you got it sorted out.

Gentlemen, the above statement is not correct. Jetcat specifically does NOT recommend you do that. Attached is the Jetcat instructional on how to proceed with an A123 9.9v upgrade. I have 6 Jetcats and all are upgraded and setup per Bob Wilcox's instructions. See attached, and I agree, Happy Landings!

Hey Shaz. I would have checked before programming the change but thanks very much for posting that correction.

What you are setting is the low voltage kick point IF you have low batt warning activated......1.1 v/ cell used to be kick point, or 6.6v for a 6cell NiCd pack......

For 3 cell A-123, you use the 8cell NiCd setting of 8x1.1v=8.8v. That is felt to be safe for an A-123 kick point where as the LiPo setting is way too low at about 6.6v or thereabouts, similar to a 6 cell NiCd pack.

In 13 years of Jetcats, I have never activated the low voltage or low fuel warning(factory default is OFF),preferring instead to pay close attention to my ECU packs and now with the Spektrum Telemetry Jetcat module monitoring ECU pack voltage real time on my DX-18 and IPad screens, that low voltage menu item is passing into Jetcat antiquity.

If anyone wants to activate low voltage warning, better familiarize yourself with what happens to the throttle channel if you do, by chance, hit the low voltage kick point. It is weird, all described in the Manual......

Tom. Good info. I'm new to Jetcats so this is a good thread for all of us. I have JC, K-80 and others but I find myself in a little Diff world with Jetcat.

So, earlier today a buddy of mine called me re my reply on the A123 question. He had commented to me that he thought it was 8C NIMH. Crap, that wasn't what I was told. Anyway, I got on the phone and talked with Bob. His comments were as posted by Tom. It will run fine set at LIPO but this setting would not give you the low voltage kick point functionality. I'm sure it was a misunderstanding on my part 35 flights ago with A123. Looks like I have settings to change on my 3 Jetcats. My apologies for the misinformation on my part !!!!

No harm, no foul Bill! As Tom mentioned, it doesn't really make any difference as long you manage your battery charge/condition properly. That's one of the other nice things about A123's, they can be easily, safely and quickly charged without removing them from the jet.
