Basically how to connect/setup the whole calamazoo.........I understand the controller-box plugged to the RX controls the pump running, this much is clear, what controls pressure / start/stop function..............How about any air in the system......What is the best oil to use, will mineral-oil (sewing-machine) affect O-rings in cylinders?
Lot of questions I know, but appreciate any help.

Mick,

I think you mentioned that you are using the system to actuate the gear doors as well? Are you using 2 seperate systems to control the gear & gear doors, or did you figure out a way to sequence them using 1 pump?

Is anyone else using this system to operate the gear and gear doors? If so, how did you set it up?

I did that with another set of servo driven valves. The servo sequencer operates just like an air system. The pump cycles the same as with just the retracts, on demand. Once the system is set up the pump runs on its own

As with any sequencer its best not to have a dumb sequencer, it needs to know when its safe to operate the doors/struts.

GhostRider 1 yes I have hydraulic doors on my F15 operated by a second distribution valve off the one pump. I retained the 3mm pipes, which gave a very powerful realistic door action curing all the earlier problems of door hang.

In response to the last videos I advise caution in stalling these hydraulic pumps, especially on 8 volts as I have stated earlier the pressures will exceed 200 psi which is too much for neoprene tubing, I have in the past had this tube burst, which is the main reason I use an accumulator controlled pump.

Lastly I have achieved better performance from these pumps on 6 volts as there is a likelihood of cavitation if the revs are too high.

i have used an old school speed regulator to control the pump, the UMS controller was useless.

evertyrhing in controlled with the sequencer in my futaba 18MZ

Thanks for taking the time to jump in and answer some questions.

Mick,
Correct me if I am wrong, but if you are using 2 seperate valves and 1 pump,what keeps the pump from over pressurizing the gear linesif the pump is pumping fluid forthe gear doors?Both valves always have pressureto the last cycle it just finished on, right?So lets say the gear is coming up and is now lockedin place, then the 2ndvalve opens to bring the gear doors closed it is still sending fluid to the gear up portion in the gear valve while the gear doors are cycling, will it not over pressure the gear lines and blow them out?

Hope this question makes sence?

The pump just maintains pressure in the system. The pressure varies within a dead band of the accumulator "spring" in Mick's case. The pump shuts off when the system is at full pressure no matter the position of valves or operating cylinders.

Just think of it like air. The air is at full pressure no matter what valve or cylinder is moving in an air system, same with hydraulic.

are you guys using the hk pump or turbine fuel pump bought the hk system runs quits runs quits though it was the controller hooked to batt still same thing

Ha ve pump hooked direct to battery still runs quits will not stay running think its a bad motor

I too use UMS pumps but they don't last. I have fitted a steel driving gear to all of mine, you will probably find because they run brass on brass gears, the wear rate is considerable.

Its kind of crazy it runs till the fluid hits pump. Then quits with lines just run into cup of fluid to prime pump

Hi Kasper,I see you have ditched the std controller ,how do stop the pump running continuously? I have the hk system and would like to
Change it as the std controller doesn't seem up to it.are you driving the gear doors aswell and can you give a diagram or pics ?
I want to install this system on my ultra lightning.

i control evertything thru my futaba 18mz, it can make all kinds of sequences and so on.

I also control the speed i want for the hydraulic engine.

if you dont have these options i would use a jettronic sequencer, or make a switch like mick15.

the doors are operated by servos, i really cant see why i should bother driving these with hydraulic also.

the brakes are also hydraulic with the brake actuator from UMS, but a copy of a system from eurokit, it works ok., IT NEEDS A STRONG SERVO, and you need to be able to bleed all the air out, like on a normal car.

Try a fuel pump intended for a turbine engine, such as the Flight Works item.
