What kind of batteries can be used with a Jetcat ECU. My STP5 turboprop came with a 2 cell 7.4 V Lipo battery but I was wondering if I could use a 9.9 V Life battery.

The reason for asking is that I use this 9.9 V Life batteries in all my other Jetcentral turbines and it would be nice to be able to just have one type of batterie in order to standardize.

You have to send the ECU to Jetcat & have it modified to accept 9.9V LIFE. I had my 160SX modified for 9.9V A123 several years ago, works awesome.

If it is a V10 ecu (rx motors) it is already set up for A123 (9.9v) batts

I did not get a sticker from JetCat Germany or from JetCat US, on the Germany modified one the input multiplex plug was changed to a red one, on the US changed one the case was marked 12v with a felt tip pen, both ECU's where version 6.0 if I remember correctly.

What capacity of A123 9.9v battery are you using? And how many start up/cool down are you getting out of the pack?

I'm using three 2300 mAH A123's from Electrodynamics in a Kingcat. Two for the receiver, and one for the ECU. Ten servos (eight digital) are pulling approximately 500 mAH per eight minute flight, giving me two to three flights with a comfortable safety margin.

Today I was able to check my ECU and noticed that it doesn't have the option of using Life..... Just a 2 cell Lipo and a Nicad. Could it be because my turbine is not kerostart ?

You can go into the ecu and change the number of cells. Im running a 3 cell A123 . The ECU comes back from Jetcat with instructions on how to adjust the number of cells in the ecu

That's why you have to send it to Jet Cat to have them make it compatable. It has nothing to do with kerostart.

So you only get two to three starts with a 2300 mah A123?

JetCat USA modified one of my ECUs earlier this year to run on a 3 cell A123. The instructions that came back with it said to set it to 8 cell NiCad, which is pretty close to the same voltage as a 3 cell A123.

I recently shopped for a LiFe battery replacement for my P80SE, and they were extremely hard to come about. I decided to buy a 7.4 LiPo that Dreamworks carries. It is a ROAR certified package by Exceed R/C (for R/C cars). It comes on a very hard case, which in my opinion is far more robust than the packages we are used to.

I like it so far. LiPo is goo stuff for kero starts, but they do need careful handling.

I could get more starts than that, but as noted, am using approx. 500 mAH per flight, and I prefer and large reserve safety margin.

The p-100 uses 200-250mAh from start to flight to cool down. I use a 3cell 2100mAh LiFe from jetcat.

Correction, I was referring to my receiver mAH usage, not the ECU. I believe you are correct for the ECU usage.

So how many flights do you get with this battery? 7 to 8 start up and cool down?

As stated above, three flights. I'm super cautious.

After about 5-6 I don't feel comfortable flying without charge so I do charge. I can go to 7-8 but am uncomfortable not charging. I also use an external fan too help with the cool down to save ecu battery. My Rx battery takes about 200mAh each flight and I have two 2500mAh A123 packs. I don't have to charge theses until I'm out of 6gal of jet-a (about 10 flights).

I just finished read jetcat manual for ECU version 10.It was written that the ECU can be used with 2-3 cells Li-po and 3 cells LiFe.Do anyone try 3 cells LiPo?
