Question Carlos of Repair Technology International (RTI)

I'm thinking of purchasing a used RAM or RTI2800 and I'm trying to get a feel for Carlos and his business;

Does he keep busy?
Is he still making it out to the jet events?
Is he healthy? LOL (seriously)

What other company can repair these older turbs should Carlos not be able to do so?

Regards,
Bart

I just had business dealings with him recently. Carlos is an honest no BS kind of guy. I'd highly recommend him to my friends. I'd say you have no worries.

Have heard that he's a good straight up competent guy.

My only real concern is his future LONGEVITY in the turbine repair business.

Bart

Well, he's been in the business longer than everyone else except perhaps AMT and he's still going. His longevity is probably as good as any other manufacturers.

I have been a great supported of Carlos since the days of RAM and to me his engines are the best, not only that but the service he gives you is amazing, not only during business hour, but at all times. If you are interested, I have an RTI 2800SE for sale, sold the plane and this is an extra engine with only eleven runs, these turbine is like new.

I had the great, good pleasure to deal with Carlos ....... unfortunately I purchased the motor before sending it to him and once he got it his knowledge and expertise led me to sheetz-can the entire unit.

If purchasing a RTI or RAM turbine do yourself a favor contact Carlos first and see if he's got any history on it. If not, insist that the seller send it to him for a 'look-see' before finalizing the deal. I'd do this with any other 'non-major' brand turbine as well.

You won't be sorry

Bill

Carlos and Bob Price have both done work for me. Very honest and straight forward. Would work with and recommend them anytime.

I guess im the only one who has had bad dealings with Carlos. $1500 and didnt even get 2 1/2hrs of run time before the Bearing preload went out. That was after having to send it back twice after the initial rebuild bc the turbine disc was grinding in the NGV the first run after getting it back from him. Then come to find out the turbine shaft he replaced, didnt get replaced.
Then when i called and emailed once a week for 12 weeks, he never once bothered to pick up or return a email.

I guess I'm the second one. Charged me $900 plus for bearings, alignment ect. for a Ram 1000. It ran for about 2 hours and exploded at Kentucky Jets. He refused to do anything about it. Never again.

Spending more than $500 on anything RAM/RTI in my opinion is crazy!! They are great engines....for desktop display.
Save the money and buy a newer generation engine, the used market is loaded with great engines for really good prices.

Juan,
Bob Price's e-mail is: [email protected]. The PM function of RCU is sometimes inoperative and it is best to contact him directly.
Also, Carlos can best handle your starter situation with the RAM 750+. Keep in mind that starter problems may be caused by a defective ECU. Good luck on sorting this out.
Rgds,
Art ARRO
