PowerBus from PowerBox Systems

Hi Guys
This video explains a little about the new system from PowerBox called 'PowerBus'. I'll briefly demonstrate how to set this up using PWM adapters allowing any servo to be used. Look out for the next video showing how to connect and programme Futaba SBUS servos with the PowerBus system.
Its worth noting I'm not a dealer nor do I sell any jet related equipment. I'm just a builder but I thought doing some videos about the gear I put into my jets builds might be interesting to some of you.
I hope you find them useful.
Cheers, Alex

This is a genuine question and not a dig at Powerbox but, aside from the thicker cables (which may be a reason in itself to use the Powerbus), what does it do that Futaba SBUS doesn't?

This would appear to be just like the Futaba/Robbe battery backer that I am using. It looks to me like your doing a sbus setup with regular servos, which you can do with futaba as well. The Robbe has much smaller boxes.

My Feedback: (18)
I just went to duralite's site and checked for availability. The boxes are $55-8 a piece, need 4 minimum, not counting the wires for my corsair. This set up does save you from buying sbus servos, so the cost is about a wash. I bought the SRS because of the gear sequencer and the igyro all integrated. It is a complex little device! It will be many beers to get it all figured out. Putting it in a 1/3 scale plane first as a testbed before I put it in something more expensive.

Hi Guys
Yes, its the same sort of system as the Futaba/Robbe unit who did first bring the BUS system to our models. I'ts probably just a matter of keeping up with the times, Futaba is SBUS capable, JR has got its own XBUS stuff now so I'm presuming PowerBox are making a competing product.
Having said that, there are some differences which is why we went with this system in the F104 and not our original plan of the Robbe unit. Its personal preferance but these we our reasons for going down this route:
-Larger cabling
-Integrated 3 axis i-gyro
-Now Ive only been told this from PowerBox but they seem to be pushing the redundancy of their system compared to other SBUS systems: a short circuit in one servo causes the bus lead to be blocked thereby blocking the data-stream from all the other servos which would obviously result in a total loss. The servo distributors you see in the video have built in protection against a short circuit/servo burn out etc... within 2 microseconds that output is automatically shut off keeping the bus lead active. My F104 client couldn't get a response regarding this from the manufactures of the Robbe unit so decided to go with the PowerBox setup.
I'm waiting on the SBUS servo box's before I can have a play with the Futaba servos as well but they do work through the PWM adapters. I'm not sure they're in stock yet at PowerBox yet. My A4 will have this in using the PWM adapters and JR servos.

No worries on the vid, I remember when I first got into this stuff which gave me a massive headache not knowing anything so I always thought a few vids would have been good.
Have a look at my Royal SRS set up vids, you might find them useful... http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/rc-j...t-up-vids.html
Cheers Alex

Hi guys
Here's the second video showing the use of SBus servos with the PowerBus system. Please say if there's anything odd with the video like volume issues etc... I'm self taught with this videoing stuff. I'm finding the learning curve rather steep especially with the editing side. If you have any suggestions on content or improvements please feel free, I'm not easily offended

This is part three of my PowerBus series of videos explaining a little about PowerBox Systems PowerBus. This video focuses on the procedure for setting up multiple servos on one receiver channel. You can see the previous parts in this YouTube playlist on my channel.
