Default Speedworld RC Field re-opens

Following a year of intense negotiation with the State of Arizona the RC field at the old Speedworld Facility opens today for flying. The opening is contingent upon building a relationship of trust and safe model aviation practice. There are no plans for a Jet Rally in the near future, but in early 2014 there will be a demonstration of Jet Flight for a select group of Arizona State Administrators so that they will be able to see that there is more to Jet operations than what they have witnessed on U-Tube. Yes, Brother Violet, we have done a great dis-service to our hobby by showing our crashes on every social media available.

The club will have a new name, as will the facility. There is much to do as the malicious damage to the facility is vast. There will be no electricity or water as those entities are gone. The kitchen as been destroyed and only the wood seats remain as once were bleachers. The good news is that the runway and taxi areas are in very good shape. A new seal coat should make them whole. The State will allow no overnight parking ! Currently, we are the only group allowed to use any of the property that was once Speedworld.

I'll keep you posted as to the progress of restoring this once GREAT facility. There will be many future Desert Jet Storms.........but that is in the distance.......

Great news Chris, I am sure that was a lot of work to get to this point.

Is it now a club field? Can jets fly on it now?

Good luck in the future.

Chris,
That is great news. I retire in December and will be in Sun City West by mid to late January - let me know what I can do to help a fellow retired Navy fighter pilot!
Regards,
Gus
