Default Tai pipe diameter... Tam or others...

Could someone tell me what the outside diameter of their tailpipes for a P120 to P160 size turbine is?

98mm is a bit big if you want any speed...

I'd say 85-92mm, but pipe length can vary this too!

Hi that is a good question and one that has occurred to me,what is the ideal size for different size engines, is there a mathematically equation?i recently bought a 1/6 scale second hand L39 which had a exhaust pipe which I would have said was for an 80 size engine, the guy that I got it from was using a 120 and later a 160.I fitted a 160 but found that the engine hatch got quite warm, from which I gathered that the exhaust was not getting away down the pipe.I fitted a larger pipe and the problem was much improved.Any body got any answers?? regards Keith

I don't know of a formula, but several things affect my numbers. Inlets, bye pass or not, bell mount or not. Length, Turbine (high RPM/Low RPM to achieve thrust)

Quite agree with you Dave I guess there are to many variables to nail it down to a pacific size regards Keith
