Very nice Gunn!!! What did you use to weather the plane and how did you apply it?

TIA

Sorry for the late reply been gone all weekend

I used artist oils from the craft store. Whiped it on the cleaned it off until I got the effect I wanted. Use terpentoid (or something spelled like that) to thin it some and also to clean it off the plane.

Pinnacle aviation had a post here a while back of the step by step process.

The normal F-16 models land with a nice nose high attitude and when built light, slow down perfectly without the help of slats or air brakes. All of that being said, I am not sure if this model is offered with them. I would call BVM They will be the best place to answer your questions.

Have to agree there, the F16 has lots of drag and lift as it is. Ive seen models with LE Flaps, Air Brakes, the whole Taco............ but have yet to see anyone using this features in a scale-like manner. My best guess using them all in flight would create a very nice flying brick............but then again that is the whole purpose!

I was able to get a few flights on Barrys F16 I built at FLjets and its a real joy to fly. Its super light weight makes it the perfect everyday flier. And how easy the fins and wings come off makes it easy to transport. Everything went well.

Used a K140 in this one and it needs more fuel capacity IMO so going to convert the smoke tanks to fuel and ditch the smoke system. Very very happy with it though

Also this great pic by David Hart shows how I got rear ended at the event........... Got real lucky only scratch marks on the rudder and we flew it the rest of the week. The other plane was a total loss.

The other plane only needs a new left wing, and some left hand inlet repairs....not really a total loss.
It is owned by the kit manufacturer, Bob Fiorenze, and he has plenty of spare parts..

Update on repairs...wing repair completed on 3-12-14, inlet to be completed by 3-17-14

I do Dave and I will post some installation pictures as soon as the site will cooperate. Mine has flown. In fact I put 12-14 flights on it the first day. I lost count but I know I burned through all 10 gallons of jetA I took with me to the field. I never turned a single screw all day. It was gas and go. The manual that comes with the kit is awesome and will have you in the air in no time.

Just a quick question. I presume we are all paying the inbound freight along with additional FL to house delivery?
Just wanted to be accurate regarding total cost.
thanks

I used the stock tailpipe mounting location which is preset. I spaced the turbine 1" in front of the bell mouth. The inlet tube is cut to length. It works very well and egts seem normal. I did space the turbine above the rails just slightly under 1/4" to center inside the pipe.

Is anyone flying with the servos on 6V?

I have a weatronic receiver and cannot run 7.2-7.4, only 6.0V. I think the torque at 6v would still be around 180 in-oz but I dont know the torque fro the servos in the plane at 6v versus 7.4. I am GUESSING from Spektrum HV servo data....

I suspect that this will be fine but it would be comforting to know if some are flying on 6v...

Thanks
Dave

I am also running 2 A123 batteries no problems here also.

Last night I removed all the fuel tanks and smoke tanks and will start to re plumb everything to make the 2 smoke tanks fuel tanks. That extra volume should help allot with the flight times. I am thinking about 7 or 8 mins with plenty of reserve then. Will post some pics when I get further along.

Gun,
Pull the throttle back!!!! We are getting 7 min with plenty of reserve with the cheetah, K-140, and P-140RX. I know you know what you are doing... LOL

Servo Specs:
6v 18kg/cm 0.13s/60°
7.4v 21.5kg/cm 0.11s/60°

No problem on 6.0, 6.6, or 7.4.

Hope to fly mine tonight!
