Default 90mm Turbinator

I am building a 90mm Turbinator from Laser Design. I plan on powering it with a P-20. I will be flying off a grass field and would like to know if anyone has built one and if this is enough power?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hal

I was just looking at that kit today myself, but couldn't find too much on it.

How much more wood is needed to complete the short kit?

I flew my buddy's on a paved runway. It flew great. I don't think it would have any problem flying off of grass. I know some guys are flying habu's powered by a p-20 off of grass and it's a good big heavier.

Is this the e turbinator or a larger brother? The e turbinator are common with p20.

Yes. LDS took the Turbinator-E, and enlarged it to a 50" wing.

Personally... I think the regular "E" should be flown on the P-20... and the new "90mm" should be flown with a Kolibri 30/35 or an MW-44. AND... the 83% Turbinator, should be flown on a 60 sized engine.

My mistake. It was the smaller one.

Dr. Honda

You will need about 4 or 5 sheets of 1/16" balsa to sheet the wings and miscellaneous sticks to construct the fin and stab. You probably have enough material laying around your shop if you have built anything lately.

I haven't framed up a model since my first kid showed up. (minimal free time) So... it's been 7 years at least.

But, that doesn't sound bad. I bought a short kit about 20 years ago, (20% Decathlon) and I swear that I doubled the price of the kit buying everything else. Basically the kit I got was just the ribs and the formers.

I sent an email to LDS a day or so, ago... but I hadn't heard back from them.

Post up some pics of your build. I have a Wren 44 in a CMP T-45, and it's fun. But, I would like something a little more stable. (T-45's have a nasty habit of snap stalling)

Tony, you will love it! I do the dirty roll on takeoff like my idol Bob Hover with my std size one. I have flown Nicks personal plane several times and they all fly great no matter what size they are.

I have one. Framed up. The upsized plans left some to be desired but I think so far its turned out ok. Perhaps Ill finally finish it this year. I have a T25 for it. I weighed all parts and it was around 5.5 pounds but it needs wing sheeted and monokote.

I flew the E Turbinator with a p-20 off grass, It was fine, but a 10% increase in size and flaps and it would be perfect!
