Default Skymaster F-14 Mick Burrell maiden flight

Mick Burrell has just flown his Skymaster F-14 on its maiden flight. Looks a bit of a handful because of excess movements, but I only picked this up from the comments from Mick after the flight. I was not present. Well done Mick! I think this is the first customer F-14 to be flown.

Well done Mick, that did not look like fun - way too much of everything I'd say. Look forward to your next flight once you've calmed it down somewhat.

Cheers,

Jan

that grass must be the only bit in the uk that is flyable at the moment, I expected to see the gear dig in on landing you could hear the squelching when you were carrying it out.
well done mick it looked a right handful, hope to see it at raydon jets this year. well done peter for a superb video as always

Great job getting it down,

I have to say this was the first youtube clip I have ever seen that made my stomic clench, I felt like I did with my first turbine flight. LOL

Im sure you will beable to smooth it out, but great job!

It didnt look all that bad to me. Tone down the spoiler to roll mixing and it'd be fine.

Congrats to mick!

The F-14 flies like a big glider. Nothing spooky about this plane when the wings are out. Sweep them back and it's game on! I'm looking forward to seeing customers fly the plane more aggressively. That'll convince me to place an order.

Excellent work Mick and another lovely plane from your stable. I am sure the overcontrol can be sorted out with less movement on low rates (keep a high rate in case you need it) and about 35 % expo all round and less throw on those spoilers.

I wish I had the balls to test fly a plane like this

Great work Mick.
Apart from the control throw issues it looked pretty solid in the air.
Beautiful aircraft!!

Indeed a great job Mick... keep us posted on the further flights, and on the control throws... Roll does seem excessive, how was the elevator feel??

hi jay, the f-14 weighs nearly 60 lb and i had the same thought as you with the u/c !
wondering if it would plough the field up, phil asked mick to carry her up the hill where the ground was a tad firmer,
what an amazing short flight, cant wait for those low fast passes with the wings swept back - yummy - lol,
howd you get on with your corsair ? weve got the mini seafury ready for a test flight so should be a laugh
regards pete,
