Default Midwest Jets 2014

Midwest Jets 2014 is set and thanks to Jerry Crow , CD, we are already set with sanction/event paperwork with the AMA.

8/21-24, 2014, New Hampton, Iowa. The airport is closed for this event, NO traffic. N-S runway, 3000 feet. Restaurants, food all within 3 miles of airport.

We have hangar space but will also have fair weather enclosed tents for daytime use and overnight storage.

Come out for a relaxing, fly as much as you can, type of event.

Details will be updated shortly here on this thread.

Many thanks to Jerry Crow, Rich Grote, Dave Gorman and the Crossed Signals and the city

We are looking froward to a great event!

Jerry made an interesting finding today , the google map photo of new Hampton Iowa airport was taken at some point after last years event but before, the center tent was taken down. You can see the center tent to the left and portalavs a bit north.....lots of room!

Yes, working around other events around here as well. Same conflict last year. Otherwise coincides with FonduLac if we move up and we get the airport closed the weekend we have chosen.
last year I am aware of only one person that had to choose which one to go to..we tend to get the folks closer or the ones that have come for ten years. Everyone is welcome.
Dave
we also have never had anyone make it from East of WI until last year, thanks George! We certainly invite everyone to give it a try. Cost is minimal, Sat dinner included, 1-3 jets at a time without any waiting.
We also have moved the date around other events in the past and it never really changed things, the folks that come are here every year. We would like to invite everyone to come give it a try.

Good news from New Hampton Airport. We may have a new road cut into the site more directly from the RV area so this would make camping, RV and overall acccess even better. We are lucky to have such great assistance!

This site has ample room for parking, trailers, camping, more runway than you will ever need and a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Even if we use the gong, it is only for fun.

Mark, that would be a first, but at 11 AM I would expect it wouldn't bother too many other people, lol.

Reminds me of Ted, in "ted" - "set the alarm for 11am, I have a lot to do tomorrow"

Please stay tuned to this thread, the website may be changed so I will post everything here until we are certain:

I hope this year we can get a few more people from IA, MO, ND, SD, NE, IL and of course WI and MN. We have a wide open site, no traffic and a very relaxed event over 4 days so we can even work around weather if needed. Local support is great, hotels/grocery/restaurants/fuel all within 2-3 miles. If you need to convince the family, there is a spot for camping or RV and a pond. Also, about 2.5 hours North is the Mall of America.

Sysiek, hope you will attend the event. You'll be able to fly to your hearts content and your thumbs are sore. We had no full scale landings last year. Full scale runway and quiet country atmosphere. We even have a bonfire & beer night. Besides, you need to get out of the city for your sanity. Bring all your jets, whether they be fiberglass or foam. I know you have many.

Mark, I test ran my P160SX this weekend after having it serviced. Love the smell of dead dinosaurs.

Working on finalizing our arrangement with the hotel. I hope to post tomorrow, we should have a block of rooms. The hotel is clean, close and has a pool and a large parking lot.

Just as an aside, the group in New Hampton even setup a fire ring and brought a truck full of firewood for us last year. Amazing hospitality.

Bring some jets and pilots from IL and see if you can persuade some in WI on the way! Dave, TOM????

Sounds good Tim. Hope you can make it. I can keep your UB here, if you are passing by some time before the event, and I can transport it to the site too if you like.

Yeah the F16 is pretty cool.

Also keep in mind that we are hoping for a direct route over to the camping and RV area for anyone interested in enjoying the outdoors. I am always tempted to just hang out under the stars after flying and some dinner.
