Very sad news chaps...no easy way to put this but Pete Nye collapsed and died yesterday at home.
Sadness beyond words.
Many of us have lost a dear friend and mentor, and the Jet World has lost one of its true Founding Fathers.
Blue skies Pete - sleep well mate.

Damm, think I last saw him at Top Gun (UK) when we chatted about the DJ Vampire a lot. True leader in the early scale scene and a real fan of the 50's classics.
Thoughts with all his family and friends.

Its very sad to hear of Pete Nye passing on.
It was a privilege over these last few years to have shared some flying sessions with a modelling icon.
I like many of us will surly miss his sense of humour and banter along with his incite in to our hobby.

He will be missed by many a massive loss for the hobby and a massive loss for friends and family. I feel honoured to have known him and been on the receiving end of his banter. RIP Pete

The man . . . . the models . . . . the legend!
He is not really gone if we do not forget him, and that is not going to happen. His contribution to jet modelling and its progression was huge! age was no barrier to him and his creative mind was active to the end.

A few videos as well, Pete let me copy his videos and Ron Sweeney very kindly gave me his collection of nearly 200! so I am steadily changing them over to digital format. Many hours of footage and Pete is all over them along with a few other famous names.

I remeber chatting to to him at one of the DF events in the dim and distant past. Great enthusiast and and an inspiration. He was one of the ones who proved to the doubters that DF could work well.

I just read this piece of sad news this morning when I received RC Jet International and was shocked. I knew Peter during the 1979 UK Jet World Masters in fact I spent most of the time with him during that time. I also pestered him to sell me one of his MIG-15 which then it was still one of the newer models on the jet scene. I still own this plane to this very day. An icon of jet flying. Condolences to his family and friends. RIP

I'm proud to number Pete as one of my best friends. I bought his Fan Jets Hawk following Dicks magazine review in the early eighties. I had one of his big Mig 15s. I also had his lightning and flew his supermarine 510 for a while. I currently fly one of his TF9J 2 seat cougars. I spoke with him regularly and a couple of days before he passed on. Pete was also interested in vintage diesel powered models and I gave him a Bowden cabin model years ago that was an original tissue covered model and I know he got a kick out of the old stuff. He was a source of endless information and a constant inspiration. You have left a big hole Pete. Ron.
