Shedding a turbine blade at full chat could be colourful but at least it will be quick.

This will most likely end in the 'need for spleen'.

Although it has a potential top speed, there's no way he could even handle it on gradual bends - look at the banking angle of one of our jets at 200mph, he'd have to have the reaction time of a cat on steroids to compensate for it

Fair play to him though, we all get those crazy ideas every now and then - he just gave in to one without thinking whether he should

I don't think he will be testing this out at the local race track.
This would be tested on a salt lake and I'm sure they have worked out how to do it.

he will get to 180 mph and then fall off and be the end. Doesnt look any sort of safe at all.

What is safe when you are trying to be the fastest.
Does it have to be done in America to be safe?

And I can only hope that the run is shot in HD from at least five separate vantage points, including an aerial point or two as well. This is going to be good......real good. Almost as good as "downhill couch racing" just without the turbines but with the basic outcome along with the..."OMG...OMG" audio, which is the icing on the cake!

How can a turbine that size produce 90KG of thrust...each!??

Take off the tube for afterburners and it isnt that big.

I want one!

Look at the diameter though.

How fast you have to go before your legs get blown backwards and ripped off? I hope there's some velcro.

I also wonder if he has considered a good dose of Preparation H before the run, to prevent inflating and exploding at top speed.. thhhhllllllLLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPT BOOM! Maybe a streamlined plug would be smart.

If the guy is smart at all, he'll go into a wind tunnel with it and try it out first. Anything around or much over 150mph, he's just asking to go airborne/out of control.

Here's a speed record attempt that ended you could say...a bit unexpectedly. They left out.....nose packed full of what appears to be volcanic ash.

Isn't the last part of the YouTube movie taken in a wind tunnel?

Here's something a wind tunnel doesn't provide, surface imperfections and road rash. And these crashes were well below the speed the dude with the jet engines is attempting to hit.

Not even worth trying to explain. Single minded experts.

So when's he going to try to do this?

Reminds me of something I saw a very.... very long time ago:

Same old story with any record attempt like this.

If he succeeds he's a hero.

If he fails he's a crazy idiot.

Time will tell.

Me? I'm interested enough to watch the action from the comfort (and safety) of my couch.

John.

What would be cool is having him rolled out the back of a c-130 just like a Blu-82 and then he lights up the engines while heading downward like a human lawn dart. Have him go super sonic and then slow himself down to where he can safely open a chute. THAT.....would be cool to see.
