Default YA F15 Down Elev with Full Flaps

For those of you flying the YA F15, I was curious how much down elev you have programmed in with full flaps.

Thx in advance for your comments...

None required at all, she does not change pitch with any flap setting. I think the book
called for 45 degrees I went with 40. Move CG back about 1/4"- 3/8" from what the manual
says and she will be dialed

My CG is 7.75" from the LE, measured with UAT full, tanks empty and gear down. When I deploy full flaps she heads to the moon !!! my air speed does not seem excessive while putting in flaps ... ??? Jet Central Rhino. About 30 # dry.

Depending on what radio system you use, Id suggest Flight Conditions with separate trims for each, make your flap switch your Condition switch and then you can re-trim the model with each flap position.

BINGO!! We have a winner, That's what I did and it works great. I'm using a DX18.
Thanks to David Payne for the help
Mine is setup for trims on ail, rud, and elev.

Mine pitches up with flap also. I probably have more than 45 degrees flap. I drop them when I am pretty slow and they are set to come down very slow.. My TX is at Futaba so I can't check the mix but I don't think it was much.

Wow that's wild, I've had 2 YA f15s one was my first jet, I never mixed any down elev with flaps.
I do make it a point to slow her down before deploying gear and flaps. If yours is climbing do whatever it takes.
Flight conditions is the best way, if not try a p mix with maybe 1/8"-1/4" to start. Also set it where the flaps and the stabs
stop moving at roughly the same time.

I have a 12X. I plan to utilize the flap system feature to program in down elev. this way the stab moves at the same speed as the flaps. I have the flaps set for 2 seconds. I was curious if there was a common "Down Elev" starting point but maybe not. . I guess I'll give her 1/4" of down and adjust from there .. It is interesting how some see no effect at all and others pitch up ??
much Thx..

Hey Bob,

How much down elev did you end up with when switching from clean to full flaps. I'm measuring from the leading edge to the fuse.

I just looked at the mix on my 10X that used to fly my F-15 and it's 5%. I'm thinking it is around 1/8". 1/4" may be too much.

On my YA F-15 Arf I have 0 down elevator with flaps, no pitch change whatsoever..... It must be a cg thing but I have flown it nose and tail heavy and no difference.... I deploy mine on final but when I have gone around I didn't notice any change.... Weird!

I have more control throw than the manual maybe an extra 1/4 of inch and use the same setting with it with out flaps.

On mine I do have a servo slow setting that drops them nice and slow, that might be the key to preventing it from ballooning, if you drop them at full speed I could see that sudden changing pitching it up as opposed to the slow deployment keeping things level...

It's such a forgiving bird... It won't hurt to mix in some down, it will just force you to hold more up on landing which is more intuitive then pushing down.
