I watched this video and realized that soon kits will come as NO PILOT experience needed. almost like the good ARF's kits of today.
The skill of the pilot is going to depend on how deep his pockets are.

Me, well I will just have to carry on and learn the hard way as normal.

Thanks Wayne.

I have a friend who has developed a stabilising system for Helis, even flybarless, that can be flown easily by almost anyone and have seen it demonstrated with a turbine heli, it is quite remarkable just let go of the sticks and it will fly itself back to the hover.

What did catch my attention though was is the surprising amount of tork effect from the turbine spinning the airframe, this must be present on all our airframes all the time
I saw this vid some time ago and was impressed by the progress flight stabilising had made but never gave it a second thought, this is because I have little interest in Jets hovering or doing 3D. Jets flopping about like floundering fish on a boat deck I find a real turnoff but admire the skill involved and I'm sure they can be entertaining for the non jet enthusiast at a show

Quadcopters and the like donīt require building or even flying skills... even so this kind of competitive flying is the coolest thing since the invention of turbine engines:
Maybe you can have fun (the original purpose of model airplanes) without needing to "suffer" or going the hard way. Same applies for a hovering jet with some automation on it.

Good day.
I was not trying to knock the video or that way of thinking. my point was I would not be able to afford it So I will have to stick to the 'old school' of flying. the rub comes out when there is a competition, what is going to count, the amount of money a person can throw at the sport in having someone else build and set up your aircraft for you just to go out there and flip a couple of switches with no real idea of what they do. Or will the real dedication modeler still have a chance.

I think they still have.. most of the coolest jets I ever seen where DIY creations.. some done with intense labor and dedication and some built up if a few hours! However the important thing is you having fun doing this and donīt bother with any kind of competion. We are living in fantastic times, where our imagination is the limit on what can be created.

My Feedback: (101)
thta jet was pretty light obviously and I didnt notice any control surfaces. remember pre-RC, they used to have those discs you would put into electric cars to run a certain pattern....well that is the direction we are headed again it would seem. planes willbe programed to fly a pattern and land....wheres the fun in that?
