Default 1/5 scale AD Jets Rafale. The giant is in the house!

Just a quick update on the 1/5 scale Rafale.

We just received the twin engine version of the Rafale C. This is a 80 lbs giant. It will fly very well on two Behotec 180 to 220.
As a reminder, this is the first planne that was 3D laser scanned to 1/100 mm from the real plane in France. The kit was then reverse engineered and the plugs were CNC machined from blocs of LAB to 1/20th of a mm. So we are proud to certify this plane as scale to 1/10th of a mm. A performance that only Robertus Vitaly has managed so far on his World Masters Yak.

Here are a few pictures of the kit parts.
The kit in the box:

The plane assembled in the grass:

Some details of the wing surface:

Rails and missiles:

Ducts:

Specific kevlar tanks:

The wing tubes. One is made from Au4G, the other one is made from our UAV certified Structil carbon fiber:

The canards:

More details on the techniques used to build this giant are available on our web page:

Hey Oli,
I wish I had the chance to catch up with you in Dubai, but I've been taken off the Airbus and I'm doing my conversion back to the Boeing 777.
So I'm on ground school as we speak. I'll let you know if I'm over your way in the the future. If you manage to have a HK trip, give me a call.
Cheers mate,
Morten

Wondering the pros and cons of a single engine versus twin for this airplane...any suggestions? I am ordering one shortly.

Hello Fafa,
nice site but unfortunately there isn't written for which scale size or manufacturer the parst are, e.g the PC 21 cockpit. Is it for skymaster or what else?

Pros of the single version:
Simpler, easier to setup, lighter, more fuel endurance.
Cons: different sound due to the split pipe

Price is about the same.

I think the sound of a bifurcated pipe is twice as cool as two twins. The twins I've heard, you can't even tell they're twins. The bifurcated pipes have a nice growl. :-)

I 100% agree with you. The Y pipe makes an amazing sound, very much Starwars Tie fighter like. But not really scale...
