:-) Not at all, they are the wing anti rotation pegs stored there.
Have thought about that and there is a possibility

I guess that makes sense I never thought about anti rotation pegs. I was just wondering about a clear canopy because I thought that would really give it a little nicer look on an already pretty slick looking model.

I had thought about it on the smaller Xcalibur. Will discus with Ripmax and see if the factory is able to produce such a big screen.

Thanks Dave. Looks like it's going to be an awesome model. I'm going to get on GJC's pre order deal and get 1 lined up.

Yes, its going to be a fabulous product. I've warned Mike he's going to sell out.

Other than the mention of electric gear, super. The gear is pneumatic.

Best Regards

Dave, do these come pre-hinged or does a person have to hinge them during the build? Just curious if they are hinged at the factory or how they arrive.

Same as the standard size, the holes are drilled, but you have to glue the hinge points in position, add the control horns etc...but its a very sorted package, unlike other lower cost designs that are aimed at beginners there has been a lot of thought put into the design, its been "finished" where as other manufacturers seem to get 97% there and seemingly think, ah that will do. From my experience Its rare retracts are designed to fit, no cutting or packing to get the gear in. Everything is included and I have now seen enough std Xcaliburs using all the supplied equipment operate faultlessly. Its credit to Ripmax they have achieved this with their manufacturers and at a good price point.
My first Xcalibur build start to finish was under 30 hours, this won't be much more, just one more elevator servo to install.

Thanks Dave. I like the double elevator servos. Redundancy is never a bad thing.

Thanks Dave. Sounds like a well thought out plane and they made it pretty complete as well. Really looking forward to it.

Dave, on the original xcalibur, will a jetcat P-70 fit in it or is that too big? I have a P-70 that needs a home as well and I have heard nothing but good things about the plane.

The P-70 will fit, early in the thread you will see one of my customers fitted one and there is a little video.

You need to trim some of the inlet duct only and use the packers

Thanks Dave. Also, would a JetCat P-120 fly this bigger one off grass fine? I was thinking probably anything in the low 30lb thrust range should fly it fine, correct?

If you read the original post I did some 85N (P-80SE) tests from the same grass site and strip and although that day was windy, it coped really well and flew fine. Didn't have a video man that day, but soon as I can get a chance I'll do a video with 120N and 90N
When this project was started the thought was 120-140N would be the most popular size used

But the Xcalibur+ will be a great grass airframe.

What are you using for a flap to elevator mix or does it have much pitch up or down when you apply full flap for landing? It looks like a real floater on landing and slows up awesome.

The Xcalibur pitches up slightly, the Plus less than the standard size. This one has around 2mm down with full flap. I did not adjust Ripmax's original set up and feel that another 5 degrees of flap would be perfect, its also a lightly loaded airframe as you say so something that would benefit from CROW to make spot landings even easier, the reduction in lift would be good. I will play with that when I have an airframe to experiment with.

So adding another maybe 5 degrees of flap at full would be the sweet spot? That sounds good and 2mm of down elevator isn't much at all so that makes it a sweet set up. I added CROW to a couple other of my sport turbine models and that helps reduce the "floating" nicely. It'll be nice to see what you come up with for settings when you get your hands on one to work with all the set up options.

For me, yes. More drag the better.
Its not floaty as such, but it's obviously lightly loaded. There will be plenty of time to experiment and advise.
