I have to have a jet (Yellow F-22 built, not in kit form) shipped from Seattle to the SF Bay Area. I think its too big for greyhound and I'm not sure of a good place to start. Anyone have any suggestions?

FedEx freight has good service but are very expensive.

I would make the drive and not risk it.

+3 on the road trip idea. I've gone to Arizona to get one and I went to Southern California to pick another jet. Both times it cost me less in diesel fuel and an overnight room rental than what the shipping companies wanted and I knew they were safe with me rather than some cone head on a forklift.....

Napa is an hour away from us....we go there plenty.

I have shipped several airplanes via Forward Air. Build a good crate and it will be fine. They have never scratched a single one.

My experiences with Forward Air Freight have always been positive.....but like you my crates have all been built for some level of 'normal' freight company rough handling......unfortunately past performance is no guarantee of future proper handling.

Most times these days I'll work out a deal to travel half way to meet to buy/sell a plane.....it just takes one very big unknown off the table

Buddy of mine received a big-a^^ A-10 in a crate that had been 'speared' .... but not in the wide side like one would think, rather in the very narrow end! Only way that could've happened was if the fork-lift driver was 'pushing' the crate around trying to maneuver it into position. He had to fight with Forward Air Freight to get paid what it required to repair and repaint the damaged fuselage (A-10 had been expertly done up in the Warthog scheme)

I would certainly recommend you consider picking it up yourself. As to these two freight company's: ( FED#(@^! and UP*&^%$ )
I would say " Stay as far away from these two as you can get."
I'll spare you the details.
