I'll start off by saying this is one impressive jet. The Owner Bill Cunningham could not wipe the smile off his face. Bill did most of the building on this one and I helped out with the PowerBox Royal setup and a few other 18MZ items. Bill stated right after take off how smooth the plane flew. The gyro was locked in right off the bat with the gains that we put in it on the bench. It's not often that in the first flight you switch on the thrust vectoring, and that's just what Bill did about 2 min into the flight. This plane tumbles like you wouldn't believe. He was having so much fun that we lost track of time and when the 7 minute timer went off it took us by surprise. The landing was nice and predictable said Bill. And by the look of it I would have to agree. The plane really slows down and showed no tendency to tip stall. The rest of the day was spent spinning and flipping for three more flights, along with some knife edge passes and coupling checks. Take offs were smooth and predictable as well. The plane will literally go vertical on take off, not 60-80 degrees but vertical. The Behotec 220 had plenty of power in this jet. Bill had custom tanks made by Jet Tech at 125 oz for fuel and another one for smoke. (volume unkown to me) The jet will pull out of a hover with authority, and as the fuel levels decrease over the course of the flight this just gets better. Bill's summery after the first day went something like this. " It flies like a pattern ship, and I cant believe the way it tumbles" - " The thrust to weight is amazing and it lands so smooth, it really does fly and land like a pattern plane." - " And the UP6 brake valve is very smooth on the stopping." I'll include a few pictures from the days fun and list the equipment we used in this build. If anyone has questions feel free to ask. You will see this jet in a few videos I have coming up on programming and using the PB Royal SRS system. They will be posted to my website.

Awesome. I got three flights on mine on Sunday. The tumbles are fun. My rookie II flat spins better, but I can't get it to tumble.

We found that the flat spins are perfectly flat and a slow rate of decent if performed inverted. It was almost a nose up attitude. Have you tried that yet?

No problem with being horizontal, the rookie just pinwheels, it's just the shape of the planes. Rookie has low cross section but it's fat with the delta. One thing I don't miss is cleaning smoke oil from the fuse... With the tumbles, it got dirty...;-)
