Default CAT V2 - updated composite air trap

Hi all just a quick update on the new revised CAT V2.

I have undertaken a small upgrade to the CAT series starting with the CAT-M and CAT-L versions as these are the most popular in the range - the new designation is 'V2'

The changes are:

Chromed custom made barbs to give largest ID possible for barb OD
Black CNC cut FR4 end caps
New tank label with V2 motif
Black ABS 'no glue' base mounting cradle
Black mounting servo screws

The updates provide a few benefits over the original design, the black FR4 end caps are less prone to UV discolouration, and being only 1.6mm thick allow any air trapped inside to be easily seen and the barbs are chromed to improve durability.
The mounting base system is now made from black ABS plastic which is assembled without glue and is supplied with black servo screws to mount to your preferred location.

The system is built around the tried and tested PPF format (pleated paper filter) which provides high levels of security against air ingress in fuel draw, has a huge surface area to reduce suction resistance and is sealed for life to avoid leaks.

The V2 has started to ship in both the 'medium 130ml format' and the 'large 260ml format', the 'small 80ml format' is next to be upgraded followed finally by the Ultra which is a specialist unit for very large turbines.

These are pictures taken for reference only and better quality images will follow on Dreamworks and my website soon.

Someone say BLACK CAT??

In seriousness though Mark, nice increments on a great original design. The couple of CAT's I have are well thought out and running flawlessly, I'll be glad to pickup a V2 or 'Black Edition' for my next build.

I did deliberate around this feline 'link' but felt the possible brand fallout might not be so welcome so kept it simple - glad you find them reliable and appreciate your support.

Marc

I am using both the smoke and fuel Cats. I have mine hanging from the brackets and the rubber orings keep breaking. I finally ended up using Rubber bands. I don't know if they are design for type of mounting? Do you have a better oring? I really like the cats. I put one in my new EF2000. It is mount the on the top of bracket.

Here is my set up when I first built it. I have had sets of rings break.

Hi the 'O' rings are stocked at Dreamworks, if you are in the UK then ping me a mail and I will sort.

I have changed the 'O' ring diameter to a larger version and also increased its size over the earlier ones so the 'O' ring is in less tension, its something which does the job perfectly but does need to be replaced from time to time. I have looked for alternatives but are yet to find one which works.

In an ideal world a transparent round cross section band which is super elastic, resistant to kero and fuels would be perfect - plus comes in a range of sizes and diameters. If anyone knows of such a product then please let me know

Appreciate the comments guys and glad you like the updates.

Marc, what size of your air traps do you recommend for the KT210G, medium or large?

For a 210 you will require the CAT-L V2 (260ml) this is rated for 180-300N turbines.

Dreamworks RC will have some stock of the new CAT-L V2 by late next week as I am shipping some out on Monday to them.
