Glad to see you got the lights figured out. They did seem to quit plug and play I found. Yes I think if you meet the ratings of the of the existing it should be fine.

Yes I good saying I was reminded of today. Happy wife, happy life.

Full speed ahead now Jimibar If the weather co-operates this weekend will do another trial flight of the A-10 on Sunday.

Have a good and safe flight on sunday Alan !
Guys How do you fix/secure the tanks ? They slide on the rear but in front there is nothing to hold them.
Thanks.

Guys do you think using 2 velcro straps is enough ?
Here are some pictures.

Using the straps the tanks are not moving at all in any directions. I tried to shake the fuse and it looks firmly attached. Feel free to comment. I have no other ideas to fix them tbh.

Hi Jimibar
I don't know if anybody cares about this airplane anymore other than you an me. Seems like you and I are talking back and forth and were in our own little world.
Anyways I think you could use your method or I used a combination of Velcro and silicone. I have also seen people build a special removable bulkhead shaped to the tanks to lock them in

Thanks Alan for the comment. I'll go with the straps solution and will confirm with a jet builder veteran when I go to the airfield.
My build is going well so far ... Got all the carbon plates in place and the radio wood plate installed.
I'm waiting for some wires fixation pads because I need to do all the routing of cables and believe me, the wires are a nightmare in that plane ...
I got the loom from PowerBox and the 3 servo wing connector inside the fuselage is not long enough to reach the radio box. I'll need to get 2 times 3 lead extensions to extend these servo wires, thanks for simplifying the installation ...
One question, for the landing lights on the nose gear, how did you route the wires ? Under the mockup or outside attached to the LG leg ?
But all in all, it's a pleasure to work on this plane, you got plenty of space, the kevlar is easy to work with and everything is well engineered.

BTW have you done another flight with your A10 this week end ?
Today I'll work on the battery tray and I might need some ideas for fixing all the lipos and life in the nose.

Cool

HI Jimibar
Yes no shortage of wire, with all the electrical systems. All the lighting to was supported to the outside of the mock up. I used mostly tye wraps to secure. I think Oli has suggested using thin strips of aluminum to help guide in a few spots. Your choice here.
I was unable to have my flight yesterday as mother nature gave only a brief window of time in the morning and I was also competeing for the runway with a full size crop sprayer and he obviously wins.
The battery compartment can be quit easy. To the left of the compartment where the nose gear draws up into there is plenty of space there. Make a platform that can slide either dowling or rails that will go into front former and then install a rail at the back where you can use screws or some other hardware that will fasten in the deck over top of this rail. Then put velcro on the batteries and deck and I also do one other safety loop of velcro that closes like a belt over top of the batteries and goes through slots on the deck. This way I can remove the screws at the back lift up on the plate, slide it backwards out from where the tongue mechanism is holding in the front. All the batteries come out together this way for service. Oh I forgot and undue the 99,000 electrical connections.
Hope that explanation makes sense.

Thanks Alan and yes your explanation makes sense completely. That's almost what I did. I spent a few hours before finding this solution when I saw your message. Great minds think alike

I did a tray using a carbon plate, don't worry all batteries will be secured by velcro to avoid contact with the carbon and to prevent the battery from moving.

Battery tray installed in the nose :

And to fasten everything in the fuselage I've built 2 parts using wood and a fiber rod, this piece will be glued in the fuselage :

Then I can use a strap to secure the tray in place.
It might not be the best looking battery tray but it should do the trick.

Jim.

Hi Jim
Yes your battery deck looks like that will work well, will be well secured and have good accessibility for maintenance. Your single line diagram looks good. The only thing that some may differ on is the placement of the valve being before or after the pump. I do it the way you have it there. So some say you are causing a lot of pressure on the valve, if the pump is ahead of the valve.
Looks good to me maybe others may have some good suggestions. Good progress Jim.

HI ALan,
Did you trim the Mibo half circle mounts out for the bottom (jet tech) tanks to fit? Or did they fit inside of the stock retaininb bulkheads?

DD[

QUOTE=AKB;12234683]Ok Jimibar
I apologize for the exposure of the photos but I hope you get the idea of how this Jet Tech tanks are plumbed. I have also included a picture of that brand of tank that I am using so it gives an idea how that tank works. I have shown a shot how not that fancy, gives you a simple way of how I fill it showing the fill lines on top of the main tank that are just supported by heavy duty black Velcro. These photos sort of show my component board where I am installing the UAT's as well. As you can see I still have more cleaning up to do in there. I still have more trial flights to make, so after those I intend to try and tidy up more then. I will try and answer more questions if I can.

HI Dave
No I found that I didn't have to do any cutting at all. I think I maybe built the tank up a bit so they would sit level, but they were a good fit. You back working on the A-10 again.

Hey guys !

Just wanted to share a sneak peak of the last 3D model.
My buddy did an amazing job on that one, can't wait to see it fully printed !

It's a triple ejection rack (BRU42) used to carry 3 MK82 bombs.

And now lets talk about weight

GBU24 : 412g with rods for attaching the bomb under the pylon. Don't expect something light when it's more than 75cm high.

M117 : 109g with rods.

MK82 from Mibo : 54g

TER triple ejection rack : 67g

TER + 3 MK82 : 231g

Looks ok to me.

I did use very Xlarge vent tubing for the main tanks.

As big as I could find

Also consider a lower voltage fuel pump for filling, every thing is happier that way.

Jim
Dave is definitely right on this one as far as vent lines. Oli has big 1/4" ID tygon on his web site, it is huge, but I think it does the trick on allowing a very breathable vent system.
