Default Electron Retracts

If anyone out there is looking for a quality set of retracts then keep reading.

I have been into RC flying for over 25 years and I have been through my fair share of parts and accessories. In the later years we where graced with air operated retractable gear but not without problems of leaking O-rings or sticking valves and not to mention a spaghetti of tubing and bulky air tanks. A few years ago we were graced with electric retracts and electric brakes. I have tried most of them on the market and although they worked well the quality and reliability just wasn’t there.

About a year ago I was on the hunt for electric retract for a new build and I came across Electron (Spain). There wasn’t much on the net about them from other peoples reviews but after looking at how they where made, the materials that where used and a few email to the owner of Electron (Xoel) I decide to try them out.

I can say with out any doubt or hesitation that these retracts are what we have all been waiting for.
Strait out of the box and in you hand they just oozed quality strength and reliability. I have now used electron on all of my projects from that point on from warbirds to jets and they have never failed me, they lock in position every time without any loose struts or shakiness…just solid!!

Not only are the retracts themselves the best quality money can buy but the struts, electric brakes, wheels and electronic controllers are all top end.

Since I started using Electrons in my planes other guys at my flying field, (who spend half the day field fixing there air retracts) have all now started to move over to Electron and since then there has not been one gear up landing ever again. We used to have at least 2-3 a month.

I did have a small issue with one of my retract controllers and after one email to Electron another one was in the post the next day no questions asked. I send the old controller back to them just so they could have a look at it and see what happened to it. After a few days I received an email with a very detailed report of their fault diagnoses along with pictures. This is what Customer service should be like and not just in RC but any industry. So not only do they have quality products but quality customer service as well.

Well done Electron

I read on their site that the retracts are rated for a max of 38 lbs. Did I read that correctly, or do they make a larger set of gear?

I think Electron are the best Electric retracts on the market. The build quality is better than any electric or air retract I have seen. Mine have been faultless over the last 6 months. Saying that, I really doubt that even the Electron units will last as long as a decent air set would as there is more to wear. Also if for some reason a leg of your electric retracts (any make) don't come down fully and you land on it, something is going to break where as with an air unit, all in normally well.

HI K.O,

I will try and help but first I need to know......

Can you clarify which controller you are using, is it the RS200 or the new GS200 (gyro stabilized system)

If it's the RS200 do you have the programmer (display) for doing the setup or are you using the LED button on the controller?

Try and give me as much information as you can how you are doing it and at what stage you are stuck/stop at.

Feel free to PM me if you like.
