I pity the poor manager at Denny's if they don't have picante sauce. RIP

The Twin Peaks manager will be shaking in their boots when the "model airplane gang" comes to town! Packing Exacto knives, of course...
I'm in for Sunday.

Bob,

I plan to be there Saturday afternoon with my Hawk.

Forecast is low 90's and light southerly winds.

Anyone know if the field is confirmed open. Our local field (Thunderbirds) at Benbrook is under water.

Just read the Thunderbirds are in Waco this weekend for the Heart of Texas Airshow. Maybe you can get an airshow from a distance even though TSTC is a ways from the field. I know they set up "staging areas" while waiting to perform

Guys, the field is open and in good shape, all the concrete work is completed, and turned out great. So come on out, have some fun and stay safe, wish i could make it, but i gotta work,,
fYI on the safety note we do now have an AED (defibrillator) in the clubhouse should an emergency rise it's very easy to use when you open it up it has written instructions and tells you how to use it hopefully we never have to use it.

The TSTC Airshow post prompted me to look at the FAA website for TRF's. Luckily the model field is outside of the 5nm radius TFR around TSTC, otherwise we would be grounded for the weekend.

Looking forward to the weekend.

Wow - what a flood... I always thought that runway was kinda elevated too...Kevin, can I bring my rc boats to your airfield?
PS - I thought it was quite rude that you did not attempt to rescue the squirrel on the table that was frantically trying to wave down the quadcopter...
I'll be at the HOTMAC field on Sunday...

Had a great time again as usual, Got my I-Gyro dialed in in my 2M viper, and enjoyed a great day of weather and friends. Ron felt like stupid because he forgot to bring the turbine for his airplane, but I told I had one better than that, I forgot to bring a whole airplane !! Now who's the Idiot !!.. Well I know, me.... Bob Price got 2 free airplanes after he had an aileron quit on his Victory Jet ( and only crow on one side )..Twice, bad connector. My KingCat did not survive that scenario a couple of years ago... All and all a lot of fun, summer time is here. See ya at Bomber Field in 2 weeks.

No boats allowed, but 5 or 6 years ago when the field flooded (not as bad as it did this year) there were several club members who flew their float planes out of our field.
I got an update today, they say the water is receding by about an inch a day (This is actually the north end of Lake Lewisville covering the area), so it should be cleared out in another week or two. Then the cleanup starts.

Glad you guys had a good weekend in Waco, I sure wish I could have been there.

This is what happened on my Epic Victory on both flights. When I went to full flaps and crow the plane rolled heavily and we had to dial in full trim on the good aileron to get it back to no crow to level out for landing. So I landed both times without any crow. This plane is very clean and needs full flaps and 1/2" of crow to slow down for landing. The left aileron servo was limp with no drive both times. After unplugging and re plugging the servo it worked both times. We could not get it to fail again after the first flight so I decided to go ahead with the second. I am running tests to figure what went bad 2 times and can not get it to fail now. I am not sure if it a connector problem or servo problem. At least I got used to flying with gear down and either half flaps or full flaps for 2 complete flights. My original intention was to get the plane trimmed out with gear down and half/full flaps and get used to flying in those modes. I am going to replace the aileron servo and the leads for that servo as a minimum. I am looking at replacing all 4 of the 8411 wing servos with Hitec HS7955 titanium 330in/oz servos that are guarantied for use with A123 and even with LIPO batteries. I already had to replace 2 of the 8411 servos at Mississippi Jets. 2 great days of flying at Waco. Thank you Steve for helping me with the flights and takeing care of all the trimming.

Bob, the 7955s are great servos, I have them in my 50cc slick, and 50cc Pitts special, but they are rated for 6volts , and hitec does not garauntee them for life(a123) voltages, if you put a 2s lipo on em they will let the magic smoke out. After having some jittering issues on my slick, I started regulating all my planes at 6v unless running dedicated hv servos. I know alot of guys say life batts are fine and have had no trouble unregulated, and I have gotten away with that on a few 3d planes in the past and never had a problem, but I do not do it anymore. Unless they are HV servos. All manufacturers highest rating is at 6v, not 6.6, or 7.2. I know when it comes to electronics you have more experience than me, (safe to say your smarter than I am on the subject) But I trust there is a reason for the manufacturers specify that voltage. Anyways, wish I could have been there, but had to work, I would have enjoyed watching the victory fly again, luv that plane. Hope to See you and the guys at Bomber field, I will be there Thursday,

Ronnie. The Hitec HS-7955TG is approved for a123 and LIPO batteries unlike any other of their servos that they don't label as HV servos. If you do a search on the subject you will find other users that have verified this with Hitec. Check out the chief aircraft description of this servo "approved for A123and LIPO batteries". I confirmed this with Mike Mayberry at Hitec yesterday. It is 330 in/oz at 6V and has all titanium gears. It also has all the nice programmable features/parameters like all their 79 series servos. I have been using their HS-7985MG(170in/oz metal gear) servos in my large scale helies for years.
Looking foreward to flying the Epic at Bomber field. See you at bomber

I have an old military buddy who lives in the LakeDallas area and he's got the same flooding issues going on right now as well. BTW, has anyone tried putting airplane floats on a turbine before .
