Default Switch for turbine battery?

I'm finishing up my first turbine build (Navy Cat with a Kingtech 100) and I'm wondering, do people put in switches between their turbine battery and ECU? I understand that it's a potential failure point, but if your battery is buried deep in the nose it seems inconvenient if you have to disconnect it between flights.

Most setups i have seen dont, nothing wrong with it if the switch can handle the amps. Seems liked a personal thing, Boomarc makes a switch just for this application.
As for the buried part, you can always use a battery safe to charge in the jet, and they all seem to have long leads.

Excellent, thank you. How many amps would I expect to see during a standard start up or cool down procedure? I will look into the Boomarc unit.

Hi Frank.
As I understand it, the Xicoy ECU has an electronic switch which powers the ECU battery, only when the Rx is powered.. This means that the ECU battery is not connected when the Rx is switched off, and you do not have to disconnect between flights. (This electronic switch does use a slight amount of residual current, so the battery does need to be disconnected for charging and storage..)

I dont have any switch on my ECU Batteries..

As stated above you don't need to disconnect the ecu battery. You plug it in at the beginning of your flying day, charge as needed during the day, then disconnect once your flying day is over.

Just agree.No switch.
Jetcat ECU is also switching off when no receiver power and you may leave the battery connected for weeks.

in practice I charge the battery and do not connect it, so I know that it was charged; then I connect the battery to ECU before flying and leave it until I have to charge it again.

Here the same.

My Rebel with Kingtech K100G has also no switch for the ECU LiFe battery.
Just connect it on the start of the flying day and disconnect it when going home.

Cool, thanks guys, I'll skip the switch idea.

Default ECU switch

Arm safe makes a nice panel mounted disconnect. Very clean and easy. I don't like connecting and disconnecting batteries. Booma is only rated to 6 amps and turbines during start can peak a little higher than this. ElectroDynamics HD makes a switch with various higher amp connectors that is rated at 10 amps. Booma's is tied to the receiver and you can switch if off with one flip of a switch if needed. A little risky. I like the Arm safe system and if you get a pump run away can pull it very quickly.
