Anyone going to NAMFI at SMMAC this year? I've seen there are jets there and was curious how it goes and how they are recieved or welcomed. I have been to Warbird events where i didn't really feel welcomed with a jet though they were technically allowed. So looking for a first hand account. It appears to be jet friendly .. It's all I have anymore. But for all I know could be locals that are well known by the club. Thanks.

This is a great event and they welcome all military models. Jets are welcome. I have flown my A10 and Hawk there and there are always a few jets from CO there too.
The runway is a mat and relatively smooth. There is also a grass strip. The mat is fine, sometimes I spray my wheels with a little antistatic just to be on the safe side.
The guys that run this are first rate. It is a largely propeller show but there will be jets there! The turnout overall is usually the largest thing we see around here all summer.
Let me know if you are going to come, I have been planning for my F16 as well.

I'm one of the CO jet guys. Been flying jets there for about 8 yrs now. All kinds. Great field The grass is no problem for jets, nor is the mat runway. Planning on flying a SM Cougar there this year. First class event run by first class people!

As one of the CD's for the event I can assure you we are jet friendly as long as it's a military jet we'd love to see it. Our flightline crew keep things safe and moving for all so bring it on over and have a good time!

Thanks for the responses to my two posts on this forum as well as my email. Can you tell me is something like in the attached picture allowed? its a large fiberglassed foam jet that is hand launched. It can keep the pattern.
Also is there a time to fly smaller foamies such as all the out of the box foam warbirds and foam jets they sell? I have one of those foam 262s I'd like to bring just to get more stick time.
Just trying to maximize my flying potential but don't want to drag stuff down that I cant fly. Thanks for all the information.
Thanks,
Joey

While it's not strictly a giant scale event we do ask that all planes be able to keep up with the pattern. Most of the planes are 80" and bigger and move along pretty quick. So during the busy times we'll want to keep it to planes that can fly together.
That being said the evening times really slow down and that's when we pull out the smaller foam stuff and have some relaxing fun.

I am not going to get my little YA f-18 done in time, about 3 days short. So I will only have a mig and my mirage EDF. Been watching as many NAMFI vids as I can find and its odd to see all the WWII stuff flying with jazz music playing, then hear a jet in the background LOL.
There has been some serious jets out there, not all of them were warbirds (flashes) which shows people are pretty layed back. Even if I don't get to fly much I think I will enjoy just hanging out. Weather so far doesn't look too bad, nothing Im not used to.
Im going to bring my viper jet just in case an opportunity may arise I get to fly it. Wish we had more jet specific events in my area but I am going to just start hitting warbird flies as there are 3 times as many within 5 hours of me.
See ya there.
