Please help
Someone on this planet must have a set of build instructions for an old Fibre Classics F86 kit?
If you have would it be possible to scan them and send them to me please, although they are meant to be basic, there are details that would make it a lot easier!
Many thanks
John

I had a set of instructions and passed them on to Harry Curzon with the plane when I sold it to him. Try contacting him. The instructions were very dated though with servos everywhere. I used normal UP air cylinders and electronic valves on doors and airbrakes which freed up a bit of space. The other person you could try is John Macnamara as he was building one a few years ago. Mine had been started many years before I bought it and I had to deconstruct much of it as the glue had denatured. The slats and airbrakes are the most challenging job to get the angles correct. However when completed it flies really well and looks great.

Thanks guys
I've got to scratch build the retract units whichever is not a major issue, but the slats pose a few problems plus trying to find the hard points for the hinges!
John Mac sold his to a friend who seems to have miss placed them!

You will need a twist and turn nose leg and I believe the one in mine was a BVM unit. I see they still do a similar unit.I think the leg was a Robart one, but better ones are no doubt available.
The slats run in 2 curved tracks you have to fabricate from Paxolin or glass sheet or similar. They are tricky to position correctly as they are glued in place. There are 2 servos per slat that push them out into the airstream. You need very little friction in the mechanism and the 2 servos have to act together. All the cut outs for the servos in the wing are very small and it is not easy to fit servo frames. You will need to use ds341 or similar for the slats.

Hi John
Taken note, I've got a spare BVM nose unit which I was going to copy in hi grade aluminium!
The main gear units I was going to try and get some dimensions off of Harry C.
The wing joining spar I was going to get from R&G Germany which do all sizes of carbon bar (solid)!
They are always worth a look for composites!
Thanks

Yes I also bought a solid carbon spar as the one I had with the plane was too short.
I recall the mains were also BVM units, they really needed a larger cylinder which was alongside the leg. I cannot see BVM listing the old style mains on their web site.

My Feedback: (1)
I can do better than that John, I can post you one of the units for you to measure, you can send it back or give it to me at one of the jet meets once you have got the dimensions you want. PM me your address. The cylinder is inadequate, the diameter is far too small, it works on the bench but can't raise the legs in the air but it would work if you can design in a much wider cylinder. I took the units out and replaced them with lowish profile Trim units but they do sit a bit proud of the wing, adapting the real low profile units to take a wider cylinder would be the proper way to go.
