Default Crow on a Large Skymaster Viperjet

I was looking for some feedback on utilizing crow on a large Skymaster Viperjet. Info from those who have flown without and then with would be greatly appreciated.

Thx in advance...

Bill

We have it on our ours. It helps tremendously in settling though ground effect on landing (Other words doesn't float as bad). We have it on all of our large sport jets, Lightning, Shockwave, Flash.

Generally as much as I can get sometimes an inch on others sometimes not quite that much as long as it doesn't bind.

I fly Crow on a my Comp Arf Flash (s), both the classic and Utlra. But I have never found the need for crow on my Comp Arf Viper. I do have a mix to give me a bit of up elevator so that the plane presents with a bit of Alpha on final but that is just preference. I fly out of a 400 foot strip and I will admit that it is a challenge managing speed when landing with little or no wind, especially with the residual thrust of the Rhino 200 I am now using. May be some crow in my future just for that reason.

on the Viper MK2? the thing lands so easy with just the flaps why would u need crow? I really dont see why you would need it, the jet slows down to a crawl. Where do u have the CG set

Most will land slow. But crow helps to settle in throgh ground effect. In Oklahoma with gusty winds it makes a difference.

Ken, try it on yours you'll like it. Makes the landings much more consistsnt.

As for the cg we are around 245mm.

how much crow do you guys use on the Ultra Flash? lets say if measured at aileron trailing edge root.
never tried it bofore, as i find the UF flaps very effective, but would be interesting to try i think.
BTW any pre made mixes for crow on Futaba 18MZ? or you guys are all on the dark side

I use about 3/8 to 1/2" of crow on my large SM VJ. It is very effective in killing lift. In fact if I don't remember to carry a little power it can sink pretty fast... so I am careful with it.

I have it set up on the top right slider on the TX so I can dial in less than the full amount noted above. I put it in the desired amount on the downwind after full flap in case any trim is needed.

Can be very helpful in getting it to stop floating as stated before.

Not a lot of crow on the Ultra Flash. About 4-6mm. You can probably dial in more if you want to but my setup is just personal taste.

Yes, Down elevator mixed in just to keep the plane from ballooning. The amount will depend on your overall setup and speed when you put the flaps down.

Where are you guys measuring the amount of crow on the Viper Jet - next to the flap or at the wingtip?
