Looks good Larry.
I have not posted in awhile but assure you I have spent most of my spare time building. I am still on the cockpit! You don't even want to know how many hours I have invested in this so far! Funny thing is when I look at it it seems rather simple and I wonder where all the time went and how it could have taken so long. Anyway I hope to have the cockpit done this weekend. I will update the thread at that point showing the process.

This is a test to see how photos are uploaded with the new version of RCU. I hope I am not limited to 3 at a time. Its a ton of work to do these build threads as is and I don't want to fight the application in the process. could be enough for me to stop posting. I'll see how it goes when I document my cockpit construction.

Probably maiden mine this weekend. I put in the electric gear and brakes. Lots of wires. Using two of Electro-Dynamics 4 circuit fast clicks for the wing connections. Have wing tank. I am debating a Festo or just making the connection each time and wire-tying. Have a P-140RXI, so fuel system leakage is a bit harder to find (air in-leakage vs. fuel out-leakage). I am saving the cockpit for a summer project. But your ideas toward the cockpit helped a lot. I just am not putting in a bunch of detail work until I know it flies well.
I think mine came over in the same container as yours. Heard all the same delivery stories from Linda. I do not like building, so I was not as anxious to get going.

There are thousands flying with the festo connection, so there is no need to do anything else. The stock model fuel system has proven itself over 11 years, stock tanks, plumbing etc. Only the small bore clunks provided need drilling out or replacing.

When the glare shield and cockpit tub is installed, much of the canopy frame is visible. It would look rather ugly to me if left unfinished so I decided I needed to paint the inside of the canopy framework. I masked everything off then gave it a quick sanding with 400.

I have several weeks and well over 60 hours invested in building the cockpit and painting the pilot. It does not look like much but I needed to design everything and then fabricate the parts. I used pictures of an F-18 Hornet Cockpit as my inspiration. In the end it looks pretty good. Its only fun scale and it wont be winning any awards for accuracy. I could have done more with it but honestly if I worked on this thing one more day I think I would die! I need to move on and actually get the rest of the jet together. Everything in the cockpit is scratch built from items purchased at the local hobby shop. I made due with what I had which will dilute the realism a bit but it sure looks better than an empty space. Here are some of the things I used.

Maidened the UF today. Had a few bugs to work out. The Ailerons were way to touchy for my liking. I backed off all three of the triple rates significantly and increased expo a bit. Had one E-Brake not work. The axle is about 1/16" too long and the hub could disengage from the brake. I had 8 % down elevator set in the flap program for Take-off flaps. That was way too little. She ballooned the second I tried the flaps. I ended up landing w/o any flaps and no brakes. On the next flight, I will try 15% Down Elevator on the take-off position and 20% on the Landing position. The only other problem was; it was hard to judge the speed. It seemed like it was going very fast. But it started to snap in a turn. Going to take a little while to get used to it. Definitely different from the Sprint!

The buttons are applied to the MFD'S using thick CA. I put a blob of CA on some cardboard the dabbed the button into the glue then patted it off in an dry area of the cardboard. Careful as I was there is some seepage that happens in spots leaving a less than desirable look.
