What to do.....Large Viper or a Bandit MKII...
So I am going back and forth on my next build. I am really interested in doing a large Viper. But there is a part of me thats wanting to do a Bandit. I love the size of the Viper but not wanting to drop $20k on an Ultra. So I am looking at the Bandit MKII. At the end of the day it ends up being about the same price as the Viper.
I am looking for something that is my everyday flier. My last sport jet was an Ultra Flash and I really liked it. I could do another one but I kind of want to try something new.
So what do you guys think? Bandit MKII or Viper?

Size is my only concern. I love large planes. But people seem to love the Bandit. I do think that I will always want a plane that I can push to the limit and rip around with. I definitely had that with my Flash. But I think the Bandit looks a little better than my Flash did.

Yeah, Ive had an ultra flash (only plane I would put up size wise against a bandit) I am cuurently waiting on my T1, and can tell you, speed wise, the T1 will not ever hang with the likes of a flash or bandit,,totally different purposed planes.
To the Op. If you want speed, go with a bandit, slower aerobatics and landings, Viper. Both are stable good.flying planes.

The big Viper is easier to see and fly. It impress by its size.. The Bandit is sharper and faster and its almost retro vintage this days.
both have telescopic landing gear legs. I think that this is not the best for a everyday flyer. At least the Bandit have flex plates that spares the gear mounts in the airframe.
I have seen at least 2 Vipers desintegrating a wing in the air due to damage caused by bad landings.

Bandit, bandit, BANDIT!!!
Best jet all around. I've had a million of them!!! (Well, not really...LOL)
There are a few "tricks" to them, but they are FANTASTICALLY crisp fliers. Like super crisp. They fly slow well, they fly fast well and everything in between.
Ultra Bandits don't fly as well. I know I have both. My ultra is not as "quick" as my bandit and my ultra has a B300F.
There is no substitute for a bandit.
People say that the flashes are stronger (one piece wing) but I've never seen a bandit slap it's wings.
My (current) bandit has a jetcat titan (160N) it is almost 10 years old and is still one of my favorites.
The road got washed out to our field with all this rain we've been getting in Northern california so we had to walk 2 miles with our gear to fly. Guess, which jet I decided to take.
Be warned though, once you have flown a bandit, you will never want to be without one. (Not you Dantley, you had Doug's, it had ebola!)

Yes Yes Yes Ravill, ... You are the Bandit aficionado from hell. Love the “freight train” transport rig BTW. The new model Raff is getting bigger..
Like Ravill I will never be without a Bandit. Hands down now my favorite plane to fly. Plus I really enjoy just watching one being flown well. Bandits (and Flashes for that matter) are all about Speed and Precision.
I consider a Bandit as an everyday flier. They cope well with grass, so long as it has no big holes. The U/C is very very strong, but you do need to change out flex plates after a bad bounce.. The gear doors and other mechanical parts are exceptionally well engineered and long proven. Spare parts are easy available for you Americans. And you can fit anything from a 60 to a 160 engine can.
Get one.

I built my BVM Bandit a year ago and it is more difficult to fly than slower, bigger jets. Several others at my field had experience with them. The saying here is that if you can fly a Bandit well you can fly anything. It can go slow and it is wicked fast. I have had it up to 170 MPH in the hot humid summer with the JetCat 100. In the winter you can probably get even faster as the air is more dense and drier. I have snapped the landing gear brackets multiple times when too short or too long on our very short runway but the fix is fast and easy. I fly scale, gas, electric, planes and helicopters, I do aerobatics, 3D, everything. But my Go-to plane is the Bandit.

Bandit MKII
Has a very large speed envelope. I can do a full flaps, gear up low pass at 45mph. I have seen the plane fly well above 199.99MPH ( I'm not saying I did this....) with a Merlin 140xbl. Flies like my UF with a M140xbl but is much faster and can fly slower. Retains speed on turns. Just don't bounce it. It will kill itself.

Among all the different version of Bandit BV made the BEST Bandit is a..... "Super Bandit". You just got to replace the carbon flex plates with titanium plates for the main gears...
I have had several of those and a brand new one in the making....

If you can consistently "land" a Bandit successfully, you can fly almost any other heavy wing loaded jet. The Bandit will bite you hard if you slow it down too much, It will snap without warning. If you have a good open approach on your final, It locks solid even in windy days if set properly. Raffy and I were one of the first to set up the Bandit with Crow and it worked very well since we have trees on final at our club, it helped a lot.
