Default F-16xl

Hey Guys,

i want to show you some pics from our latest project ... a F-16xl 1/6 ... lenght 2,83m
Masterbuilder Peter Coers converted a 1/6 Airtech F-16 into the XL for us.
This thing is scale in all dimensions and use the original wing profil.
The plug is nearly finished and paritech will build the molds next month.
A full GFK/CFK kit will be available very soon.

Long time ago, someone in the US made a conversion from the Byron kit. And flew with success.

I think Ivan Munninghof (sp) up in Colorado Springs made a conversion about 20-25 years ago. He has since passed away. He was a great and knowledgeable guy and I looked forward to talking to him at the SW Fan Fly.

The XL on the FEJ side was my idea years ago. I send a 1:32 model an lots of drawings to china
but nothing more than it is shown on their webside really happend. I`m tired to talk about
FEJ. I have my very own experience with them and this was more than enough for one life.

This XL is made from a Airtech 1/6 F-16. I bought the molds and all rights from Airtech last year.
Maybe Peter chime in and can show all the details which where needed to make this one a perfect xl.

just chatting about one of these the other day! Ivan did them years back hacking up Byron kits and adding a section to the fuse to get the length right, wrote it up in flying models if i recall as a DF version. Cool to see it coming along so nicely.

A few weeks ago Peter was stretching the fuselage ..... also 3 dg up at the back end, the real one needed it for preventing the belly to hit the ground at takeoff.

I will test fly the first prototype with a IQ 220+ vector thrust and think this will be a great 3d maschine.
