Default Smoke system problems.

I gave a couple of Airworld Hawks, both with JetCat 180s and JetCat smoke pumps, original types.

On both Jets the smoke is great at low power, but fades as power is increased.

Increasing the flow rate causes popping and banging and flashes of flame at low power.

The pipe is the shepherds crook shape with fine slot outlet and positioned behind the exhaust cone as recommended by JC.

Tried several smoke fluids, same result!

Any suggestions ?

David Gladwin.

Try to put the pump rate on a curve with the throttle.

I have mine programed so that smoke is off below 1/3 throttle, then the pump duty cycle ramps up proportional to throttle. You'll have to play with the curve a bit to get best smoke and longest duration.
