I have been using the ASSI unit for for at least a year, it is fantastic and Carsten's support is second to none. The post flight telemetry is fantastic to peruse

Hi everyone,
Apologies, I was obviously not very clear. It Is not the interface unit that I need, but the JetCat Telemetry being displayed on the Futaba 18mz. I have seen transmitter screen shots that show JetCat specific sensor names and units of measure. For example, it displays milliliters, which is not a unit normally available on Futaba.

Jan,
Ah yes, the dreaded un-innovative Futaba telemetry system. If you want units that match the actual measurements, you will have to stick with the Jetcat unit, since that matching can only happen on telemetry sensors that are formally supported by Futaba, such as the Jetcat unit .. where they can hardwire things like sensible unit names.
Many of us have been literally begging them for user-settable scalings and units (and a host of other really simple and really useful features like alarms that need to be "armed" .. e.g. low airspeed that only "arms" when you go above a certain speed) but not only have they not delivered any of this, they won't even show the courtesy of acknowledging the user feedback. Not that I am irritated about it or anything :-)
For third party turbine telemetry sensors (all except the Jetcat one) their mfrs are stuck with RPM, volts, degrees C etc and they emulate one of the supported sensors and are stuck with its hardwired units.
Honestly this is really an aesthetic issue .. though a frustrating one since it would be so easy for Futaba to fix. I say this because the main way telemetry is useful is to set alarms (e.g. bingo fuel, exceeding max airspeed, turbine EGT low (engine stopped) and all you have to do there is set a threshold and configure for a beeping or vibrating .. after all no pilot is going to look at the telemetry values during flight. So the fact that you have to set a low fuel alarm at 10 degrees C where 10 C = 10% and 100 C = 100% is operationally irrelevant, however nice it would be to set it to read in actual oz or ml.

Dave is right. The reason I listed the jetcat unit Jan is that it will give you the correct units on the 18mz (as long as you have the system software up to date on your 18mz)

Craig and Dave,
I am totally in sync with both of you. I am one of those guys (that Dave refers to) who have been pushing Futaba to get their telemetry sorted. Craig, I do have a few JetCats (the latest being a 180RX) and will have to check if I can get them talking to my 18mz in proper units. Unfortunately I mainly fly AMT and KingTech so my original question was hoping to find a way of using the JetCat Telemetry display values with my other engines. But I guess there is no shortcut and my frustrations will have to continue - alas I am not alone, Dave is with me.
Thanks guys,
Jan
