Default Vector

Use stock clevises. They are steel.

I second that. My reason is also because we know the forces acting on this jet are huge, the vector as well, the clevis design is known to work. Changing anything from the CARF recommendations is exercising your skill as an engineer and should not be taken lightly.

Default Mephisto Allen cap screws

Does anyone know what size and thread pitch the allen cap screws and Tee nut inserts are that hold the Mephisto fuselage halves together?

Changing out my Spektrum/cortex set up to a competition SR2 on the atom.
What sort of current draw is everyone seeing with the mephisto turned on in standby?
Mine seems to fluctuate between 1.4-1.8amp on the display.

That is a little high. Mine with JR servos sits around 1A depending on flaps up/down

I don't reall mine exactly but with MKS it was really high, like 1.5 tp 2 amps. They pull like 440 ma at idle. Hungry buggers.

Okay so nothing to worry about then.
I have JR 8911 on all surfaces, in take off flap position this was my reading 1.4-1.8amps.
I have herd of folks setting alarms for too much amp draw whilst in flight, what sort of numbers would you recommend for a warning?

Also, since I have swapped out the cortex for the igyro sat what sort of gain figures is everyone using on:
Flight surfaces
Vector/3D mode?
Also using the gps 3

Have you read the figure with the wings off…and then with the back end disconnected? Because it’s not an acceptable figure for 8911’s which are super low draw at idle.
Futaba servos are known to be very high draw, then Savox and MKS. But JR Propo servos are very low. New MacGregor 8555 one of the lowest ever!

Thanks for your input Dave
This Mephisto has 75 flights on it previously using spectrum, so never saw the amp draw until moving over to powerbox. Ran a Y lead on the tailerons previously, now using the auto matching feature on the competition.
Rear fuse disconnected I'm getting 0.9-1.3 amps
Rear fuse and ailerons disconnected fluctuates from 1-2amps
Only flaps disconnected 1.1-1.8amps
Only tailerons disconnected 1-1.5amps

Why not start with just the electronics connected (and no servos) and see what the base current draw is. Then add just one servo at a time and see if there are any that are higher than average.

I'm guessing with around 10 servos in the model you're only pulling in the order of 100mA per servo at rest.

Those figures don’t make sense to me!

If you use a PB. Servo Bridge, one can evaluate individual servo loads in flight using the telemetry.
…..and, of course with the Competition SR2 you can measure total current consumption, really useful data !

This is my new Kingtech 320 in the pipe..... it is very high up in the pipe. Any suggestions on why this might be? Is this what other KT 320 users have seen? It's not like the pipe is hanging way low or anything.

Look at post 970. I think your pipe is low at the front

Thanks Dave it appears so. Temporary alignment shows this as a fix. Now that I have the height I’ll add a better base on it.

6 years ago today the thread starter was test flown at my local club, I’ve managed to fly it each year nearest the date, but today is the exact anniversary. Weather is really not good with 30+mph wind gusts forecast, tradition is tradition, so I went and had two flights. No official photographer was available…so even the slowest flying and knife-edging machine available should have allowed Garry to get some decent shots…Mmm not really!

I must try to get the larger pipe fitted in 2024, I’m still flying the original pipe and ducting on a JetCat P-250 Pro and it smothers it somewhat.

Still a brilliant, reliable aeroplane.

Default Elevators

Hello.
I'm almost ready for the maiden on my Mephisto V2.
All I need is to set center on my elevators.
Wonder if anyone can post a pic of their elevators at centerpoint?

Line the elevator leading edge seam with the ‘lurk’ seam and you will be close.
Tiny amount of down with full flap depending on balance

Hi guys,
I have a question regarding the satin/matte finish on the Neon cayman scheme.

How is the paint holding up?
Does a satin/Matte paint require any special care?

How does the visibility compare to the gloss finish.
If given an option would you rather opt for a matte or gloss finish on the next one?

Thanks
N
