Default BVM F-4 manual?

Hi does anyone have the turbine manual for this kit?

I have the basic manual for the DF version but I remember something about an addendum or manual for the turbine install, that's what I am looking for.

Thanks in advance,

If you’re looking for CG and control throws/stab neutral position I would highly recommend not following the manual. I can pass the data I did to Matt Carroll a couple weeks ago that he seemed happy with???

I would certainly appreciate your data - I've got one of the EDF kits that I'm going to put together Real Soon Now. Lots of good info in Redman's build thread on your plane, but it trailed off before those details came along.

Thanks,
James

James,
youre never going to believe this but five or six days after picking up the Redman bird I had a house fire that consumed mine, the other one he built (that I was storing for a buddy) and another that I owned. Terrible day for ‘stuff’.

I ended up wirh Craig Gottschang’s after it was all said and done so that’s where the numbers come from (60ish flights on Gottschang’s and 20something on the other one I had (Uncle Joe’s))

of note: I’ve pushed the CG back to 159 since writing tha above sheet happily

The order may be wonky, but I think all the turbine pages are there

Thanks Dave so much you have been a huge help. I had one of these planes almost 20 years ago and I don't remember enjoying it, your stab settings have been great so far now I am chasing aileron and flap rigging isdues. I think the thrust line is a bit off, this is what I needed the manual for.

Regards

Matt Carroll

Well there is one and mine is serviceable for the new season !

This jet is heavy metal, particularly if it has a heavy Pegasus. On mine I droop the ailerons with the flaps, ( I believe the fullsize F4 also did this) , gives a slightly lower approach and landing speed.About 5 degrees with T/ o flap, 10 with landing flap.,
Every little helps !

Matt

Give me a call if you like. Tom Dogden and I came up with the perfect cg, not the one in the manual, and it’s real easy to do, no measurements, rulers, etc. It changed the plane’s personality a good bit from a good plane to a great plane, especially on landing.

Guys,

I ended up talking to Vernon today about his technique as well. I’ve used it as well and completely agree. He puts a finger in the center of the panel line box about halfway down the leading edge and picks the plane up. If it’s level you’re good! The numbers above for a cg machine correspond to this, but this is simpler

Thanks Vernon!

Thanks for the info - very helpful.
I remember reading about the fire at the time; a real scare. I'm glad that you were able to fly replacements.
