Next up will be some touch up then applying the darker grey camo. After that I will clear it with gloss for installing the markings. After markings install it will get a flat clear. Then weathering.

Got the new on board pump. Pretty cool unit. I still need an add on board to the gear controller to make it turn on and off automatically. So for the time being I hooked it up to a normal channel on my receiver so I can turn it off and on manually. Hopefully I get the board to make it automatic before FLjets.

I decided to to make a normal air system with 3 separate systems.

Gear and doors on one. Brakes on second and canopy and bomb doors on third. I have normal air charge ports in case the on board pump does not work. I used separate check valves from the air pump to keep all three systems separate.

Hey buddy is there a pressure switch or something to regulate the air compressor?

The gear controller has high and low pressure switches for the pump. This pump is a prototype unit I’m trying to see if it’s something PacificRCjets wants to carry or not. Got to test it first before we look into selling them. Here is the service board in the main hatch. I can turn the lights on and off from here service the air system and charge all batteries. So no need to ever remove cockpit at an event.

Using all 26 channels lol. This plane is busy for sure. I would highly recommend the new smooth flight receiver I’m using. Mine is not available yet but should be soon.

Started working on the cockpit. Still waiting on the Glare shield. Pilot has a moving head. I will add servos to move his arms also. Installed a LED for the HUD and it also lights up the rack of radios.

Turns out the airpump has a control board on it that needed the modes changed. Tested it last night and it works perfect!! So when turned on it will charge the air system to 100 PSI and when it drops to 70 PSI it will turn it self on and recharge the air. Like this pump allot. Been testing it and so far its been perfect. I use a 3 cell LIFE Kingtech ECU pack to power it. I have separate check valves on each system so if I do have a major leak its easier to trouble shoot and the other systems will hold their air. The wing area on this plane is allot so not really worried about the extra weight.

All I have left inside is getting the CG done and programming the gyro. All other systems are working perfect. I am still trying to do somethings on the cockpit as time allows. Tomorrow the weatgher should be nice and will paint the camo pattern on the top and all the navy aggressor gray panels on the top. Then I will get the top fuselage vents painted. Let it sit a day or 2 before shooting the gloss clear. Hopefully markings arrive soon.

That's slick. What's the weight of it?

The sensing circuit is for the main gear system. So the system will only charge it self when its low. The gear is my priority so as long as it works I'm not to worried if I cant raise the canopy or bomb doors at that point.

That makes sense - I edited my original post because I kind of figured that would be the case. I'm curious though, if that's the case why have the pump plumbed to all 3 at all? I'm curious what would happen if the bomb door/canopy system is holding at 100 but your mains have a leak so the pump continues to run, I suspect it's going to over-pressurize the other systems due to the check valves not allowing all 3 to equalize.

So far from the testing I have done it seems to fill the low psi system until they get close to having the same airpressure

If the compressor is before the check valves, you can let it sense the pressure in the tubing in between: as soon as either one of the three systems drops a little in pressure, that check valve will open and let air in, lowering the pressure at the compressor, starting it. If this happens too often you may consider adding a little tank before the check valves to act as a buffer adding some more hysteresis. There is no way pressure will get higher in any of the systems!

Just a thought Gun. That outlet on the pump will probably get warm when filling the system. May want to safety wire that connection at pump so line doesn't pop off when it gets warm.

thanks man. It does get hot. I’m trying to come up with a way to put a different type of air line on it that resists heat better. I can set the pump to where it will only run for 20 second intervals. I also found if I just fill the system up with my handheld air pump before turning power on then the pump won’t run long enough to get hot.

Hey Gun, I hope this works, this is the perfect solution for our air systems. I researched this and hydraulic systems a few years ago, check out McMaster-carr, they have high temp and high pressure tubing that that would work.

beside the obvious reason this system would definitely help with those small slow leaks that seem to pop up with various ARF manufacturers.

Hey Kris
I'm amazed on how fast you are putting it together, looking forward to see it at FJ
About the air pump, I can't tell from the picture but if it has some electronic filter of some kind, if not, it maybe a good idea to put some capasitors to it
Regards

thx Juan! See you soon.

It does have an electronic board on it.
