"The World's Grandest Jet Event"
In just a few days, all three of our "Big Top Tents" will be filled. Spaces that are available for this year on the taxiway have been filled. We may have one or two more depending on pilots meeting the June 1st deadline. This deadline is important, and helps to assist in the planning of all slot allocations. The big tents are unique in that each slot is 10 feet wide, and 40 feet deep. The #1 tent has 20 slots (40X200), #2 has 24 slots (40X240), and #3 has 28 slots (40X280). This deadline is important, so don't delay. See you at the "World's Grandest Jet Event!

Large Model Aircraft Over 55 Pounds
The FAA has brought to our attention that not all pilots flying large aircraft are legal. Your aircraft must be certified in order to participate in all AMA sanctioned events. The process is painless and very easy. Jets Over Kentucky will have the means to certify your aircraft, but you must bring your paperwork with you; that's all 23 or so pages. The FAA sent two inspectors to Jets Over Kentucky last year, and they were very impressed with our procedures and operations. Make sure to have everything in order for this year. Click on the link below to find your name; If it's not there, and you are flying an aircraft over 55 pounds, you still have enough time to get it done. If not, we can certify you at the event. Note...YOU MUST BRING YOUR PAPERWORK (LMA-1 through LMA-5). The list of certified pilots will be placed on the registration table at JOK this year.
Don't wait...do it now.

My Feedback: (24)
Guys,
Be advised that on the new AMA event registration form EACH pilot must sign certifying that their aircraft are less than 55lbs (if they are, of course). If they are not, you are REQUIRED to show your LMA paperwork to the CD and sign a SEPARATE form.
If your aircraft is over 55 lbs (wet), and you signed that it was less than 55 lbs, you are in violation not only of the AMA safety code, but also in violation of the law. If there is an accident with your aircraft and you are in violation, it could be very bad news.
Thankfully, the process of getting your aircraft certified is very straight forward. If your aircraft is less than 72 lbs, you only need to inspect it yourself and do a demo flight in front of an AMA CD. Then fill out the paperwork and send it to the AMA.
If your aircraft is over 72lbs, you need an inspection by a Large Model Airplane Inspector and then do a demo flight. I am an LMAI and I will be at JoK starting on Friday the 5th. It would be best to get this done before the event, but if not, as Lewis said, we can do it there.
You need forms LMA-1 through LMA-5 from the AMA Document 520-a that Lewis references. Any questions, please let me know.

I will provide the Big Top Tent assignments next week. Please contact me if there are any changes. Tent assignment deadline is June 1st. Your place in the tent will be reassigned if your tent reservation form is not submitted. Your slot will be designated "Open" for the next pilot in line. We have 17 pilots in line for the taxiway "Big Top" tents; three of those have already been assigned. Again, the tent list will post next week.

Large Model Certification Made Very Easy
If your model is less than 77 pounds wet, you only have to print and submit 5 pages. They are pages 21,22,23,24, and 25. Here are photos of those pages. Click this link, print these pages, and you're all set. When your paperwork is submitted to AMA, also send 3 view photos of the model.
https://www.modelaircraft.org/sites/default/files/520-a.pdf
If your model is 77 pounds and over, you must submit and print the same 5 pages. This is very easy and painless now, so everything can be done without all the confusion we had to go through in the past. If you can't get it done before the event, bring it with you. We have 10 people willing to assist.
