I had a bit of a struggle getting into the settings for centre and endpoints as the manual isn't fully clear the way I read it.
Did a short video incase anyone else has the same struggles.

Default Old version

Hmmm, if there was so much room for improvement, the old version was pretty crappy?

I like the old version and have it in my f18 and Carf tutor. I haven’t tried the 3xtra yet.
they did release and update for the 3e as well stating better flying characteristics

I have no tried the Extra version, but in my club most jet fliers use the old version quite successfully. I love mine

The sharper response time is for the 3-D types and Vector junkies.
The Extra makes delta and heavily mixed wings easier to handle...like all change people sulk because they have to read a manual again!
Latest RCJi has an article making it straightforward

Are the slots still hard coded? I think they are but I suggested a long time ago they take the approach that demon did where any slots can be any function.

Yes, most people I deal with want guidance on connecting the functions. The new Auto detect function makes set up really easy. From what I have seen of Cortex users there are only a few who can set them up from scratch.
The features introduced on the Extra will make the iGyro which already outsold the Cortex in the UK much more popular. The scale string bag guys have made gyros legal, they are all using iGyros.

Default Setup problems - Rudder correction wrong direction

Does anybody know a solution to this problem?

I have done the setup multiple times and the rudder corrects the wrong direction?

Radio makes all the control surfaces go the correct direction but the gyro makes the plane/rudder yaw the same direction it is already yawing? (is that a word?)

In the setup, I raised the tail till green lights, waited till surfaces neutralized. Then quickly moved tail to the planes right-hand side?

I wish you could just manually set it up!

When you move it to the right and then hold that position do you see the rudder snap back to neutral or slowly go back?

its important after the fast kick to hold still and wait 2 secs as the electronic take that long to update.

Are you moving the right right? As in, are you moving the nose to your right or the tail to your right? I'm thinking you have this backwards.

That’s not what sets the sense, now I think about it, you probably need to do the end point setting (calibrate) again, because that sets the direction.

Thanks for the help guys.

I finally got it working.

The plane is a tail dragger so when it was resting, the gyro was pointed down so when I was turning it on, it was calibrating at an angle. This seems like it was was part of my problem.

I did two things to get it working.

1. Put a few books under the tail wheel to make the fuselage level then turned the plane on.

2. After lifting the tail up and waiting for the elevator to return to neutral, I put the tail back back down on the books, then quickly moved the tail to the right (nose is to the left).

The manual does not say to put tail back down before moving the tail to the right.

I meant the new extra. But I would be curious if it was possible with the old one too?
Thanks,

Yes you certainly can with the new 3Xtra. Not sure about the old version.

The reason I purchased it was because my Futaba GYA460 cannot.

old thread but hoping someone can lend some advice. I'm new to gyros and currently setting up the igyro 3 extra in my HSD Viper. My question is the manual says to disable dual rates when learning end points but if you adjust the end points at any time to re learn them. I have dual rates set up and even on high rates I only go to max 80% travel. In this case should I learn the end points with the dual rates set and switch to high? TIA

Set your rate switch to high rate and to the learn procedure.

What he is saying is just learn it was the maximum travel you are going to use.
What the instructions are saying is if you increase the travels after test flying learn things again. Understand that adjusting the Expo is the most likely change, with the gyro on you won’t need as much Expo.
