Oils confusion
Just looking at ordering some oil for my helis, running a couple of Wren 44s and a Jetcat PHT2.
I've been using BP 2830, but this doesn't seem to be around much anymore.
The Jetcat manual stipulates Aeroshell 500
The Wren Manual says Aeroshel 500, 2830, Mobil Jet Oil & Castrol TTS
What's confusing me is King Tech saying DON'T use Aeroshell 500...!
Do they know something everyone else doesn't?!
If I buy some Aeroshell (which I can get locally) can I mix it in with the remains of my 2380 laced fuel bottle?

I've effectively switched to just using Jetcat oil. Jetcats like it and Kingtech and Jet Central allow it, so I can run it in all my engines...

I work on full scale and I can tell you I hate 2380. When I was younger it was fine but now just walking up to a plane that uses it my eyes start to itch and swell up. It’s nasty stuff. It was also never ment to be burned off like our turbines do.
so many better choices I would stay away from any turbine oil used for full scale since they are not designed to burn.
btw Aeroshell 500 is the worst. It carbons up very bad in all brands. Dirk at Kingtech is just the first one to say why do some of these engines come with so much build up. So he started asking what oil they used and found out it was Aeroshell 500 in all the real bad engines.

TYRBONYCOIL, , no OPs, meets all specs. approved by RR, P & W, GE, CFM etc. Just had a call from Paul Hardman, who has done done a bearing change on a PST 1300 after over 40 hours. He reports that the engine is like new inside.
All of my engines, PST, JetCat, Wren, AMT, Xicoy, Jets Munt run perfectly on this oil used with Jet A1.

Those of us who flew the 757 are only too aware of the toxicity.
Google aerotoxic syndrome.

Hi Guys
Can anyone comment on the suitability of OX-9, / O-148 / 7808 military spec oil? I was given some tins of this for my home built engine which seemed ok at the time. I now use a jetsmunt but wont use this oil until i find proof one way or the other of its suitability!
Ive searched google and it throws up turbonycoil 160 has this spec
Thanks

Turbonycoil 600 is standard turbine oil and what I use.
Turbonycoil 160 is a similar turbine oil but formulated for low temp . Ops so presumably has a lower viscosity making it more suitable for in flight, cold soaked, APU starts or engine start in v low temps.
My guess is that your oil should de fine for model type engine ops.
