Default Servo Recommendations for 1st jet!

Hi All,

I'm in the process of completing my first turbine model, a PCM AV8R, and I'm looking for some servo recommendations! According to the manufacturer, the final weigh of the model should be about 16 to 17 lbs, and the top speed should be about 125 MPH.

I'm a Futaba 18MZ radio guy, but I'm kind of partial to Hitec servos. That is not a hard-and-fast requirement if there is another brand I should consider.

Looking for servos the following functions:

Elevator
Rudder
Flaps
Ailerons
Nose Steering

I'm assuming some sort of a mid-range 'Sport Digital' servo would be appropriate?

Thanks for the input!

Why not Futaba servos? In the range 0f 90 to 110 ounces of torque will be more than enough. Lighter torques standard servo for nose steering and rudder.

Pick you poison. All servos can fail. I try to get 15-30 minutes of power/movement on them via servo driver or with setting up plane. You don’t have to spend $150.00 + a servo to find a reliable accurate servo. Here are a few choices out of many.

All servos can fail. I’ve been using MKS exclusively since they became available in the USA. Very good servos backed by very good service when I have had the rare issue with one of them. Full disclosure...I also sell them. We offer a good discount when you purchase a full set. Contact me if you are interested.
