Found on Facebook, I pass the sad news from Mr. David Hart Jr.:

"I'm sad to say that Colonel Robert E. Thacker, WWII B-17 pilot and the pilot of the record setting F-82 Betty Jo passed away this morning in his sleep at the age of 102. RIP Colonel. You were a great man and I'm honored to have met you."

It was an honor to know and participate in events with the Col. Always willing to engage in conversation, always recognizable with his white socks, ascot and hat. He was a great contributor and he will be missed.
