Default Felt Clunk

Has anyone used a felt clunk like this in a UAT application? I got it from Esprit model...

Thoughts?

I did ones and never again, the clunk got all the stuff from fuel tank growing up and changed to swap seal , very hard to service it, so I changed back to heavy brass one and get close look at the uat + I’m using good fuel filter on my fuel station.

A $3 gasoline paper fuel filter on the gas can works really good, I have one on my fuel can, change it every year or two, you will be surprised of how much stuff passed through the first filter inside the can then it gets trapped in the paper filter.

Bob

That type is too restrictive for anything over 100N.
I would not fly without a felt clunk, but I use heater fuel paraffin that is super clean and no algae...also I don’t expect my clunk to be the filter like so many seem to think! I have handled felt clunks that feel like they were dropped on a Sandy beach as composite tanks are not normally that clean from the producer.
I had suitable clunks made in the U.K. though the latest Tillotson 802P used by CARF works pretty well up to 180N single tank and 260N twin feed

I have been using felt clunks since 1997 where ever I could, in all my engines - from 45's to 250's, all brands. I also use BioBor in my fuel to prevent algae growth.

I too use the CARF felt clunks in my Rebel Hot tank and header.

I have helped people trouble shoot flameouts many times and had the issue being a clogged felt clunk. I am not a fan of them because the surface area is so small if they get anything on them you don't have much left. Your PW on your engine fuel pump will run higher your suction will be higher all negatives. My advice would be to stay far away from them. I know everyone has their own opinion though. Another issue I have seen is people using felt clunks with a UAT... That's a huge no no and is asking for a flameout.

I got a used jet that add one of those, and the UAT was an Intairco.....I could clearly see little air inside the UAT flush it and they are all gone so is the Felt Clunk....I will never run one.

Gunradd. You talk about surface area on the pickup and yet lots of people fit Intairco bubble traps
When you say Felt and UAT you mean BVM UAT or any bubble trap?
