I am extremely new to engines, RC planes, etc. I am a student studying a JetCat P100 for class and I am desperate need of help. I have been having issues with the GSU. I have been able to get the engine running, but the GSU will not let us set the RPM to what we want. It repeatedly says that "Values cannot be changed" on every screen of the "Run" Menu. We do not have a throttle receiver attached to the ECU, I was under the impressive that I could change the RPM of the engine just through the GSU without a throttle receiver. Do I need a throttle receiver connected to my ECU and what throttle receiver should I get? I am simply testing the engine, not putting the engine in an RC plane, so I am desperately seeking any advice for what I should buy/do?

The setting you are trying to adjust is the engine max rpm. This is not a setting to run the throttle rpm up.

Much easier to buy a servo tester and 4 cell RX battery than trying to use buttons ( can’t even remember if that mode works on the V10 ECU)

Try plugging a rx in and see what it does. Btw you cannot change the max rpm settings set by the factory. You can only lower them.

The RPM is set for max to keep the turbine from destroying it self. P100s in the past were right on the edge. Bob Violet recommended turning it down to improve reliability . I had a 100 blow a wheel. Dan

Maximum RPM wasn’t the issue. I have several P-100’s in the 20-30 hour bracket including ones from back in 2010

You need a battery to power the servo tester.

How large does the battery need to be for the servo-tester. Does it vary for each servo tester?

Depends how long you want it to operate for between charges....
Anything 1-2Ah (1000-2000Mah) will keep you going for a few hours of operation
