Default First in Flight cancelled

It is with heavy heart that we announce First in Flight has come to a close. We have encountered numerous issues over the last couple of seasons, along with staffing shortages to further complicate matters. Over the last two years we have lost key staff members to death, health issues, job conflicts or simply not having the time available work the event. There are of course other issues that we choose not to publish here on an open forum. Simply put, it is just too much for a small group of people to handle anymore. We had 12 awesome years at Wilson, but it's time let it go. We wish to thank all of the awesome pilots and family members that have supported us throughout the years, and we will surely miss seeing you on the flightline. We were fortunate enough to have many sponsors over the years, but we can't leave without sending a very special thanks to the City of Wilson, Dreamworks RC, Bob Violet Models and Jet Central. These wonderful folks have been there to support us in a big way nearly every year we held the event. We will forever be grateful for your support and presence. Again, we wish to thank all of you who have supported us these many years. We especially want to thank the many First in-Flight workers who have dedicated countless hours to this event. You have given up vacations, family time and much more to make this event the success it was. I will always be grateful for your support and friendship.

So sorry to hear. I always looked forward to FIF. Thanks you Larry, Josh, and all the FIF staff for all the work you did for us to make it possible.

Larry, Josh, DooRag, crew and the City of Wilson,

thank you for all of the good times and memories made. A lot of sweat and sleepless nights go into putting on an event of FiF caliber. You guys are the best!

FYI … I just heard that Flying Tigers RC Club’s spring event will be rescheduled for these dates. It’s not far off of I-95 about half way down in SC. Event Flyer being developed and will be posted. Since its pretty close proximity and has a good track record of jet events in the fall, perhaps many that were planning to go to FIF can divert. More to come from the organizers.

This may give pilots that had these dates set for FIF another option. Again, Larry, the FIF crew and the City of Wilson put on a class act. It will be hard to follow.

Thanks again,
Gary

Hi Larry,

You shall hold your head up high, and walk away proudly having accomplished 12 years of First In Flight production!
Karen and I used to host the Albany NY, “Capital-Jets”, and we were able to nurse 10 years with sometimes very challenging circumstances.
Congratulations are in order for the 12 you have managed.
We look forward to your relaxed presence at one of the upcoming events, where you can let your hair down and enjoy some friendship’s, and fun on the flight lines.
To the men and women that stood by you for many years, a very grateful and well deserved, Thank You!
We will see you soon around the patch…
Take care for now my friend,
Frank

Larry,
I am sorry to hear FIF has been Cancelled, I have never attended FIF but I saw the photos and comments over the years and I know it was an awesome event.
We as CD's know how much hard work goes into putting on these events. Thank you for all your hard work and gave many pilots an enjoyable event.
