Default They messed up the classifieds

The message We are proud to announce that on August 1st, 2023, we will be launching a revamped Marketplace. They messed it up good. The sub categories are gone. Like , jets , warbirds ETC. Now If you want to look for a certain type of model you have to look at everything. Not good. Dan

Yeah, I've been here since the start of RCU and in this day an age with all the improvements in web design and the owners still can't get it right. Just feels cheap and completely unpolished. Internet brands made $1.6billion in 2020 and I'm they have done quite well over the years, but probably spend pennies on the $ for RCU, as Sysiek said the other site is the way to go.

Yep, used to be the premiere RC website, but it's now just a hulk of it's former self and has been for a number of years now.......

When I saw the post , I was hopeful for an improvement. RCG is better for selling, but RCU has a bigger jet community. According to RCU stats the jet forum is much bigger than all the other categories they have. It would seem like they would leverage that with the classified adds.

There isn’t enough market place activity for the lack of categories in the new format to be a problem. I don’t view by category on the other two sites, don’t need that function here.

I have no desire to look at RC car listings, so not having them lumped in with RC airplanes is beneficial.

Same with not wanting to search through 6,001 listings of foamies when i'm looking for a turbine.

There was plenty of market place activity here before internet brands took over, they have slowly ruined this place. One "improvement" at a time.

Maybe it’s time to complete termination of this platform , the Facebook marketplace and rc groups take it over , except the forums, they are great specially if someone is looking for older models and the information about them, but buying and selling is not working out so just terminate this service maybe this will work better for everyone?

it died a slow death, after Marc Vigod sold RCU, a few years back,

nothing viable has replaced it, to date, anyway...

Yeah Dan, welcome to the club. The RC jet section at RCGroups is a much more viable solution to buying/selling Turbine stuff these days and has been for some time.....

I thought the new classified was bad Then this new "Global Notice" shows up saying the this was a temporary market place for the transition to the new one. Now that the new one is up and running they actually found a way to make it even worse that the temp one that was horrible. The "NEW" one has even fewer categories to jam everything into. They are now very close to their goal of making it totally impossible to use.

bad worker bee are you.

we are not supposed to take notice of the things the queen removes from us, and are only to continue working harder and harder to keep the honey coming.

To many “hall monitors” in those threads, FBook Marketplace has a much larger user base and RCTrader is also a far better experience.

I was a moderator here 10 years ago and I'm proud of that, but the marketplace is now nearly dead. Even with an Ad blocker (highly recommended) you aren't seeing things that enthusiasts are selling that you'd like to buy.

I keep wondering why the majority of the discussion stays here but the majority of the classifieds moved to RC G.

Seems like it would all just move there.

It could be that the interface (forum software) on RCG is antiquated, and really stinks. Well, that and the fact that "tribablism" will always exist as innate humane nature. Well, that and the fact that when you click on what would be "New Posts" on modern forum software (but which does not exist on RCG), then the list that is populated before your very eyes is cluttered by completely off-topic political posts that have nothing at all to do with R/C. When I see that sh.., I just click the little X in the top right corner, without trying to find something about models that interests me.

The corporate entities that are driving this hobby, often ran by non-modelers, are killing it slowly, bit by bit, and it seems that they just won't quit until they are done. "Death by a thousand cuts", as they say. I'm sure it isn't intentional - it is just general incompetence and a lack of foresight.

I have refused in the past and will continue, to refuse to sell my soul to Mark Zuckerberg. Considering how much hot water he's been in of late for colluding with the government for information on users and censorship, I think my position, which is shared by lots of folks now, is warranted.
