Default Xicoy Brake Controller

I am putting a jet together for a friend. He has a Xicoy 2 Channel Brake Controller to be used. I did a little research but can't find my answer.
When doing the programming, I have the unit plugged into a PB Mercury to operate the brakes. There is a separate battery lead for the controller. What size battery is required and is it actually needed. I have been able to operate the brakes without the extra battery. But I would like to know if needed, what size should be used.

Thanks, Joe

that is a mfg of the brakes dependent question.
most are probably ok with 2-3 cel lipo operation, some are ok with 2-3 cel life operation.

as to the extra lead, i am not familiar with the controller from xicoy, so, some one else will have to chime in.
