Default Small Ducted Fan Question

Hello,

Is the Toki Fan unit the best you can get out of a 90mm fan setup?

Is there a fan/engine setup that will produce 4+ lbs. of static thrust and do it with a 90mm fan?

I am limited to this size and I am trying to find out what setup will produce the most static thrust on a 90mm fan. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Jerry

Hi Jerry,

The Kress Fan unit (for .21-.25) will do 4 lb of thrust. The diameter is about 3.5" (90mm). Although they are quire expensive ($140 for the fan unit alone+ engine). Do a search on RCU for Kress' phone number. They don't reply to email to often anymore.

Hello,

Thank you Russ for the information on the Kress fan. Which engine would you suggest for the Kress fan (OS 25, K&B 3.5, other) ?

Thank you,

Jerry

Schubler(spelling) fan (90 mm) will do 7 lbs of thrust at 42,000 RPM. Now it is electric only. The 90 mm EDF usually out performs their glow conterparts. Even a WeMoTec Midi fan ( 90 mm) will produce 3 to 4 lbs of thrust on 16 to 20 cells.

Hello Bob,

Thank you for the information. I have looked at going with EDF. But the price is just to high.

I belive you were talking about:
Schübeler
http://www.schuebeler-jets.de/

The DS-51-DIA 3-ph fan unit is incredible. But my setup would require two of them. And this would put the price at over $2,000 when you include the fan, motor, esc and cell packs. I could go with a turbine for that price.

I also received a suggestion for an edf setup of 4 Midifans and Mega 22/30/3. When you include the 60 cells and ESCs this is still more expensive than a Toki setup.

If I were to use 4 Toki units, that would be about $760.00. But I don't want to try and fit 4 units and try to sync them all. So I am still looking at glow options and keeping the cost below a turbine.

I am trying to find the most efficient setup that will get a 18 to 24lb aircraft in the air. The design of the craft limits me to a 90mm fan. But I have an engine compartment width of 16 inches to work with.

Thank you,

Jerry

Hello,

Thanks for the offer. If I can find a good deal on 3 25 size fans I will contact you about your engines.

Thank you,

Jerry
