Yippee !!!!!! MW 44's Arrive
The postman finally delivered my MW44,s after what seems like a lifetime (late april ordered)
An Airworld ME262 will be the test bed... Now to wait for tailpipes then FLY...... This should give the kit the needed(IMO) thrust over the electric .PLUS the SOUND ....

This plane will be in attendence at Arizona Jets

MW-44's
Hello Joe,
Long time since we talked. Good to see you get the twins for the 262. Did you ever sell your T-33 in Blue Angels paint? I am still down here at Ft Bragg playing Army, let us know how the first flight goes. Ken H

Graat looking plane..... One of my favorite for sure.
What is at all up weight ?
Is the airworld kit a special turbine version, or is it the same as the EDF kit ?

It's the "turbine version" ,I have had the EDF kit and I could not see any difference, other than the turbine sticker on the wing saddle, and two added cf strips in fuselage. I did add additional Cf in the fuselage ,from experieces on the EDF, Haven't weighted it as of yet .
Ken
Glad to see you are "still in this world" no deployments for you. Still have the T-33 less turbine' I'll PM you later

I too have an Airworld 262 with two MW 44's in it.
The Turbine version has more carbon strip in the wing above and below the spar.
I have my tail pipes, from Wren in England and hope to test fly it next week if the UK weather holds.
All up weight is looking like 16lb
I'm doing a report on the set-up for the German (english version) Jet Power mag.
Quick spec I'm running two litres in the fuselage, feeding hopper tanks in the wing.
JR 3301 servos on all controls, Robart nose 105 and Spring Air 85 degree mains!
(just the way it worked out!) Eurokit 4" main wheels 3" nose.
Potential pylon Reno killer with 14 lb thrust!!

tail pipes are coming thru Jet Hangar hobbies, BVM wheels & brakes,Robart 540 main 105 nose with struts, fuselage fuel system(93 oz.) 42.5 oz mains,4 oz BVM Uat, used Voltz HP wing max on all control surfaces, fuel pumps in nacelles, along with the ECU & battery.
coated inside nacelles with BVM Heat shield,
Look forward to your flight results ... BTW what is your C....G 5.9 inches (150 mm)?
In November, hope to start flight testing in Phoenix Arizona then Arizona Jets

I have coated the inside with heat sheild too and wrapped the single wall pipe with Ceramic blanket.
I've put the pump in the wing centre section as I have the Turbines in the from of the pods and didn't want anything near the turbine.
I have hatches on one side of each pod for glow plug access.
Yup C of G at 6" dry, my tank is on the c of g and the headers in the wheel wells behind the spar.

I know the EDF has flown with the CG as far forward as 4.5 inches . Do not move the CG to far to the tail ..... At 6.5 inches it becomes a BEAR, Makes a new kit. I'll post a few pictures of the Hatches I've put in the nacelles & mid-fuselage canopy area.

How's civilian live treating you & the family? See you in Arizona (bring SUN screen)

with MW 44 location in the nacelles , I'll have no problem installing a FOD screen, behind the fuel pump, battery on rail,ECU above mw44. main hatch is about 6 x 19 inches,

Hope the tailpipes arrive soon..... shipped yesterday from the west coast .

Do you guys think it will be very hard to fly if one turbine quits ?
And how do you start and opperate 2 turbines on one throttlestick ?
btw, the pannel lines and rivet look realy good :-)

Have had experience with the EDF with one fan stopping, no noticable problems BUT that was EDF... [&o] I plan on using a Y connector into the Rx , starting one , idle, disconnect ,start the other, idle ,plug in other motor, Only problem I can presently see is in starting of Number 2 , hearing when it fires off . panel lines/rivets are in the kit

yes fail safe is set in rx The running motor#1 will be at idle, plug #2 in, remove #1, start #2, when spooled up and back at idle, plug in #1...... I hope,[8D].... ECUs require battery only
Paul
Check to see if you can get a G-job....the military time will count . Arizona Jets is Nov.21/22/23,should be a Great Event.

RE: Yippee !!!!!! MW 44's Arrive
Why not just put engines #1 & #2 on separate channels and program a three position switch to where center position, throttle stick controls both engines normally, yet at each extreme, one engine is fixed at idle? Lots simpler, functionally, than having to plug & un-plug.

Yup I'm running two throttle channels.
It is possible to operate the two 44's with a Y lead and not have to disconect anything-they can both be started at idle as the Fadec does everything.
Starting the second motor won't be an issue-you sence the second one start-MW 44's are almost as easy to start as a self start-No drama.
Yes I'm sure it will be a ***** on one engine if it's flying slow-carrying any speed it won't be an issue. Some nasty people in the UK (Ali) can't wait for it to flick on take-off if one goes out
I think it's going to be a big *****-cat as there is plenty of wing and not too much weight.-Hey it will do great flat spins with one throttled back and the other pinned!
I have a Graupner twin Star Jet with two motors/speedo units and the rudder mixed to throttle! Great flat spins.
