They went out of business over 15 years ago. I worked for them when I was just out of high school in the machine shop. I don't know if anyone bought the kit rights; but while working there I never saw any of the planes fly even though we had a 1000 foot runway on the property. I'll look and see if i have anything in my old picture stash.

Isn't this the same as the JD Models Mig 25?

I had an old Knights Of The Air U-2, I never finished it and sold it to get a JD Mig 25 about 10 years ago. I never finished that either [&o]

The KNOTA Mig-25 is not the same aircraft as the current model manufactured by JDE, the KNOTA was originally manufactured by World Engineering the company was later sold and became KNOTA.
The current Mig-25 manufactured by JDE is very scale while the KNOTA is not also the KNOTA model had been modified and reportedly after the modifications did not fly that well.

I like the MIG 25. Do you have any customers flying one that I can use as a reference?

TIA

Dennis, do you have turbine conversion kits for your planes?

What was the reason that the KOTA Mig 25 didn't fly so well? I'm in the process of refurbishing a model that someone built awhile ago but never flew. The plan is 12lb turbine power but I want to make sure that somebody has successfully flown this plane before I carry on with anymore mods.
The model looks pretty solid aexcept for the linkage to the flying stab and lack of a good wing spar. I will be putting a seperate servo on each elevator, installing a center former for the new spars attach to and installing retracts. (I hate jet models with fixed gear!!!ARGHH)
I can't believe this thing is set up for twin Byron fans when it looks like one would be enough to fly this beast!
Any other info on the KOTA Mig-25 out there?

when all is said and done, a single byron fan will fly it, but with limited power, i have already made new formers and have the 2 fans almost installed, using two os91's with byron fans, quiker take off on grass

Sorry Guys i guess when a post is made to this forum RCU no longer sends an e-mail, well to answer the question of what was modified on the kit's i am not exactly sure but Ralph Saldavar hope i spelled the last name correctly just before he passed away said to me he was going to get the kit's back one by one and straighten them out back to the original plan but he never did, i think it was the wing airfoil and stabs that were changed but again i am not positive.
As to the turbine application the current production JDE mig with 2 ducted fans for power was fast enough don't know what it would do with 2 turbine's my thought way to much power my JDE 54 well fly a 24 lb Roo this is just one turbine so i don't think the mig would need 2 of these for power.

Hi Dennis,

Do you have any customers that have flown the MIG 25 that I could speak to?

Thanks

I have a JDE MIG 25 Kit that I am currently converting to turbine I have made many mods and lots more to go. The elevator system I through out and designed my own and the formers I re-cut to accommodate a single 24 lbs turbine, and I also added gear doors to mine. There is allot of mods need to make it turbine worthy, and lots of carbon. My kit must be 10 years old I would guess.

Yea its alittle yellow now... lol but will not stay like that forever. Dennis is the CG off on that kit year or do I need to recalculate the CG to that wing? no mater I will double check it before I get that far... when I am ready to restart the building I will post pictures here but the EuroFighter just jumped in front of it. Seams like it always gets pushed back... lol

Birdofpray
The CG on the JDE Mig is correct, but the stab is very sensitive so the plane seams tail heavy.
Mr Matt i don't know of any one at this time flying the MIG the plane is not for every one because it is a twin engine and a Big plane hard to trans port the wings are not made to be removable.
