RE: Oakdale Aircraft F-35 construction
Hi all,
Here is the first epoxy upper fuse part pulled. I made it as light as possible because it's for 91 D/F. Another set will be pulled for turbine. These sample sets serve as the foundation data for future mass production.
Cheers. Aldous.

RE: Oakdale Aircraft F-35 construction
Having never done someting like this before, can i ask:
Once the plug is made from balsa, what do you coat it with, before you glass it, to stop the glass sticking to the plug?
I am about to make a Smoke Tank for a Red Arrows BAe Hawk. Was going to carve it out of balsa, but if I can use this as a plug for a F/G alternative, it would be good.
Cheers all

Hi Dave,
To make the plug strong and smooth enough to lay negative molds, I sheet the balsa plug with 2 layers of epoxy/3oz fibre glass, sand it with #200 then #400 sand paper. Once the plug is complete, apply 7-10 (the much the better) layers of wax which will prevent the part's glass sticking to the plug.
Hope this helps.

Hi.
This contruction is heavier than a fiberglass fuse. Thats why I'm looking forward to the fuse, that Aldous is making.

Dear all,
Here we go. The upper and lower epoxy and the engine compartment formers temporarily fit in. We don't need that much formers and I'll remove those non-strategic ones. This unit will be built as light as light for OS 91 D/F flying.
Cheers. Aldous.

Boy, Aldous.
It is looking good now. Can't wait to see the final result.
I'm anxious to get one done for Florida Jets 2005. I hope we can make it.
Good luck.[sm=thumbup.gif]

We can go into mass production if the test unit works out well. Will try my best to meet the Florida Jet 2005 schedule.

Thanks mate. Wanna mold the wings as well. This will take another month or so. My friend has a set of build up wing ribs. I'll see if I can use his set for maiden flight...

Hi,
Is it going to be avalible as a kit.
I've got the kit from oakdale it is great but so much work building,so iff there is going to be a glass kit I'll be the first in line.
Here is my thread from the "midi fan" version.

Hi Christopher2,
Yes it will be one of oakdaleaircraft's kit. We want the kit suitable for 12lb thrust turbine and .91 class D/F so that's why we will be testing on both powerplants. Will check your thread on RCG...
Cheers. Aldous.

Hi Russ/Stig,
Just wanted to tell you that I'm still alive somewhere in the world, with very limit access to internet...telephone by chance, and struggling to type this Email with French keyboard.
Aldous.

Russ/Stig,
But one thing good is that with my long stay here, I built 2 small 13" foam F-14s, resembling the same characteristics of the 4'6" one. They flies very well by hand launch. The CG does not change much with wings in and out.
I'm going back to Hong Kong September 7 tentatively.

Hello Aldous.
Nice to know you're still going strong. Looking forward to seeing the F-35.
I have finished the repair af my F-35 and it is now awaiting its third flight. Maybe next weekend if the weather is nice.
