Hello Terry, wish I knew what scheme I am going to use, all out of ideas. I would hate to use the same scheme I used on my red/white/blue Topcat that TGA is using for their website (sold, hated to but cash talks). I am not a NASCAR Fan so I won't use that idea and the military schemes are best left to the military jets. Maybe I should paint in a neon color scheme or some other high-vis paint job, what ya think?

Thanks Gordon! It was a pleasure to build the Bobcat and I always looked forward to heading out to the garage for a building session, it went together fairly quick and easy (3 1/2 to 4 weeks for total build, with self imposed delays). I am in the middle of glassing the wings and stab. I am still searching for the elusive paint scheme (originality). BTW it is a well known fact that all NASCAR drivers can only make left hand turns, I don't want to get stuck only doing left hand turns with a jet in the traffic pattern!! (just kidding NASCAR fans).

Looks like you've got a great start, but I wouldn't call it done yet.
The devil is always in the details. When I painted mine it became evident very quickly that I had to tape off three fuselage's not just one, and that took some time! And then I decided to color sand before the clearCote another few days work.
One thing I can tell you for sure is your going to like the way this aircraft flies, it has no bad characteristics. I haven't seen the wiggle once yet! It does want to pitch up if you put the landing gear down above 100mph, but it settles in on your original flight trim after a few seconds. It does not fly nor land like it weighs 20lbs plus. The elevators remain responsive clear through a slow touchdown. I am experimenting with outward Crow / Butterfly of the rudders which does add a little more drag and at the same time seems to reduce any remaining latent wiggle. Of course setting the Crow up requires three separate channels, which is a negative. The Bob Cat will do it all, speed if you like, stable slow flight, aerobatics, easy takeoffs and landings. I've been doing touch and goes and even with the turbine lag times all is well.
Your gonna like this one!!

David,
Yep, I did that once by accident and you are right no ballooning at all. Speed management is the key on the gear pass and level flight along with the down elevator--------This is one fun Jet aircraft, and it's so durable they should be good for hundreds of flights ----------Hummmmm I wonder if I will be able to amortize the cost down to 5 bucks a flight??? My next flight with my MIG will get the cost down to about $460.00 for the 10 minute flight!
Ya gotta love it-----------

Thanks for reply Lee, quick question for you, are you using a gyro and if so which one? I have a G460T that I plan on putting on the rudder. I believe it was DavidR and TonyF that recommended the 460 set on rate since the 450 is no longer available. I talked with Dana at BVM on Friday and he said he gets alot of positive feedback about the 460 in various AC. I have read Tony's setup procedures a couple of times and the rigging should begin at the end of next week.......(wow I burned up 30 days of leave quick!) I hope to have it ready for first flight at the Mid Atlantic jet meet in Fentress, VA at the end of May. AMT AT-180 power!
Thanks again.

I am using a cheaper(oops should I say less expensive) Gyro the Hobbico Dual output aircraft stabilizer type. At a cost of about $120.00 it seems to be fine! I installed my first one of these types in my MIG-15 two years ago and it is still working great, with no problems at all. I now am using the same type on my Bob Cat, I have the rates setup to be controllable along with my mode settings. I have found no tendency for a over sensitivity with the Hobbico gyro. I set the rate high above 90% during the landing profile on both aircraft. Almost zero in normal flight configuration. For the money the Hobbico is just fine, very light weight, pulls little current and it has the newest "pizo"(sp) technology.
On my Bob Cat, since I use three separate channels, one for nose wheel steering, one each for rudder control, I choose to gyro stabilize, the nose wheel and one rudder only. This seems to do the job on the ground roll-out after landing, and airborne on finial approach! The Bob Cat & the MIG need no help during the takeoff phase. I actually have my modes (JR) setup in the Bob Cat so that when I go to the Crow / Butterfly Out with both rudders, the gyro is all but shutoff. My Bob Cat has not yet displayed the wiggle with either the gyro stabilization or the Butterfly, I kinda like the Butterfly a little better because they seem to add additional drag during landing approach which is nice to have!
